Better options in NYC

Spent one night at hotel. We had to ask three times for an ironing board to be sent to our room. The bed was old and bumpy and the sheets were dirty. Staff was pleasant to deal with, location was great for time square. Just a little off the main area, it was welcoming to have a break from the bright lights. Room size was smallest yet that I have stayed in while visiting NYC.

This was a so-so hotel experience. The location was great I realize it is New York City/Manhattan but that does not mean that this hotel should charge what they charge for what you get. The service was spotty. If they spotted you with cash, you got service. Not all were like that but I constantly felt like a palm was up for me. The rooms were small as somewhat expected. However, I expected to have a place to put my clothes in a king room and at the price I paid. I felt like we were doing them a favor by staying there. I have been in other hotels with the same amenities for less money in the same locale and will return to those.

Overpriced even for New York

I liked this hotel in some ways. I know it is New York and I know I went during a holiday, but that does not mean the price gouging for a mediocre, at best hotel. They do not live up to the Sterling name. The staff was iffy. By that, if you were giving a tip they were giving you service. Otherwise, forget it. The concierge was pitiful. The room was adequate. However, I had to ask for a dresser for our clothes. The room did not have one. having said that, the location is great and there were some good points. They did hold our bags for us to leave later. And if the prices were a little lower, I would return.
