I'm pretty sure the Surrey has been modified from an old apartment building. While it feels aged, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the property from my vantage point. And the room I had was easily the largest I've ever stayed in while in Manhattan. Turn down service is a nice touch and the hotel manager also sent up a bottle of wine during my visit. It seemed like there were more tourists staying while I was there, but I'd recommend the Surrey regardless of the reason for your visit to NYC.

The Surrey Hotel was conveniently located with a large, clean one bedroom suite. The wallpaper and paint are a little tired, but the staff was courteous and helpful. Nice space for a reasonable price.

Not a single bad experience here. From the moment we arrived until checkout, the entire staff was first class. Lots of room. Quiet. Close to the best food. Easy to relax here. Central Park is a stones throw away or find quick transportation to whatever interests you. I'm making this my regular "stay" while in New York.

The Surrrey is in a fantastic location with a very pleasant staff.The hotel is old but the suite is huge (small kitchenette) - we loved the nostaligic feel. Great toiletries. Improvements: make sure there are enough towels in the room for all adults (fixed), need SHARP knives in the kitchenette, no bedding on the sleeper sofa.

We picked the Surrey Hotel just on reviews we had read and we weren't disappointed! Great CUSTOMER SERVICE, they let us leave the car there while we visited a college, really nice rooms, I would definitely stay there again!
