San Carlos was a great hotel.

The staff at the hotel were helpful, polite and more than willing to assist with anything. This was our first trip to NYC and somewhat taken back by the price. Once we got over the sticker shock, we choose the San Carlos for the location and b/c it was one of more reasonalbly priced. We were able to check our luggage in early that morning, but couldn't get a room due to our early arrival time -about 9a. Upon returning to the hotel to check in to our room we were given an upgrade to a two-bedroom suite. Thie room was spacous, clean and well stocked. I would definitely stay at the San Carlos again. It's located close to Time Square, lot's to do and see. We had really no idea what to expect, given the expense and reputation of NYC hotels, but the San Carlos couldn't have been nicer and we were pleasantly suprised at how nice it was.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Four of us stayed in one room for 7 days. We booked a double room with 2 double beds, but after a quick and easy check-in, we were pleasantly surprised with a king suite! We were a little concerned at first with not having a second bed, but the pull-out bed on the couch was just as comfortable as the bed. The room had a microwave, fridge, and little dining area, so it was quite spacious. The room was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location also. Many sites within walking distance, and there is a subway stop half a block away. I would stay there again, and I highly recommend this hotel to others.
Wonderful Choice

We stayed at the San Carlos for a business trip/weekend getaway. At the suggestion of one of my coworkers, we stayed at the San Carlos. It's a very nice hotel that is conveniently located across the street from the subway. One block from the Waldorf. The front desk staff was friendly. It rained one of the days and the staff placed umbrellas near the front door for our use. Continental breakfast was good. The room was much larger than NYC standards. Ours even had a small fridge and microwave. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean and had very good quality towels. I know I'll be coming back to the San Carlos.
