Honestly Not a Good Idea!
The service in general at this Hotel is way below Barcelo's standards.
The fact that they have a "public beach" doesn't help at all, the vendors continuously bug you with their sales, and hey I understand they have to make a living but not while you are on vacation.
The food was pretty bad, the front desk personal was awful!
So, in so many words, not a good idea at all!!!
If you like the area where the Hotel is ( beautiful) check out Dreams may be a little more expensive but it may truly be worth it.
Great hotel at a bargain

This was a great hotel. Big comfortable suites, nice big pools and great activities, great food, excellent service. The outdoor adventure add ons are a lot of fun. Staff is great, very friendly and helpful. I give it 4 stars only because the hotel is about 20 years old, though it doesn't look quite that old, it is showing its age just a little. The finish work isn?t great, but it is still a beautiful hotel. Gated property with security and filtered water, we drank it and never got sick once. A great time for a bargain price.
The tile floors that are all over indoors and out, are very slippery when wet, so may not be a good thing for older folks.

We spent 6 day 5 nights last may for our fifth wedding anniversary, and because the swine flu, the resort was almost empty and that was great because we were treated like royalty, but at the end of the week, they had more occupancy and their staff was not enough, we had to wait for towels, drinks and food, the buffet was not open following the supposed schedule and the activities were not present. In addition, the adults only pool was always crowded with little kids, diving screaming and crying and the security did not want to bother. The 'a la carte" Italian restaurant was OK the first day but at the end of the week, the ravioli that my wife ordered was worst than 99 cents store ravioli; I had enough, back when I was single. The bartenders were amazing trying to keep up with the thirsty crowds but they got overwhelmed. Would come back if I have children, they will love it.
Amazing place!

My husband and I booked this trip for our first getaway in 5 yrs together without children. After reading the reviews and picking this hotel based on both that it was $****pp w/ airfare from Phoenix for 5 days/4 nights (one of the more expensive all inclusive listed) and the good reviews it received, we did not get the service and level of food and drink we expected. First of all- 3 days after we booked this- the price went down to $***pp for the same exact vacation package... the hotel would not upgrade us and online travel website would not adjust as well. When we arrived at the lobby the staff was unfriendly and scarce to say the least. The first room given to us was on the 2nd floor right above the noisy kids pool. They would not upgrade or move us without having to pay and upgraded $60 per night to receive a higher floor and now a much bigger 2 bdrm/2bath suite which we did not need for the 2 of us. I have to say the room were gorgeous and at this level- the view was beautiful. The food at the buffet was pretty bad and the drinks were made pretty bad too. I couldn;t belive that I was unable to get a Margarita that tasted good in Mexico! I had just been to Cabo the previous month and stayed at the Rui Palace where my experience was 100% positive and this was quite a disappointment. The staff were unfriendly, barely smiling and seemed like they were burdened by our questions. Now for the positives- the pools were clean and so were the grounds- beautiful looking jungle like area. We ventured off to a 5 star restaurant at Le Kliff for my bday celebration which was GREAT!!
