A n ice conversion in progress with an exceptional location and beautiful beach. The staff is very nice and accommodating. They are trying hard to cater to the gay clientel, but still have some condo-owner holdouts. But they are nice and welcoming as well. Secure and clean.
The only problem is the pigeon problem on the balconies.

If you like spring break-8 people in a 1 bedroom-1 person dead another hospitalized for drug OD at Xmas break this is your place. In high season, populated by retirees, families, children and grandchildren. As an owner & retiree with children visiting it is perfect for me.

this is NOT a gay resort. 70% of occupants over Christmas/New years are the 'owners' in this fractionally owned condominium comples. It has been sold as a 'time share' before then these people were told they could no longer come here. Now it is being sold AGAIN as a time share. It started as a fractional-deeded condo unit with the promise that time share would never be sold. The staff is good the rest is uncomfortable as there is always hassle between the fractional owners and the administration who is trying to turn the place into something it wasn't suppose to be. As always---Investors beware.
A Gay Resort?

The Blue Seas Resort was formerly Play del Sol. Up until last year it was a gay friendly resort but the primary clientele was, and still is, older, hetro-sexual couples, many of whom brought their children and grand-children to visit. The change of name was done to create the illusion of a connection to the nearby Blue Chairs resort, which is a world-famous gay resort.
Some of the amenities mentioned in previous reviews, specifically the palapas on the beach, have been removed. They have been replaced by umbrellas and lounge chairs controlled by the nearby restaurant. In order to use them you must be a customer of the restaurant.
Just be aware that, particularly during the high-season, most of the units are still occupied by the original fractional owners and their is a bit of tension in the air. Not with the small gay clientele, but with the changes that were done and the current marketing of the resort as an exclusively gay resort.
Just a cautionary note, if you are going to Blue Seas expecting anything like Blue Chairs, you may be in for a disappointment.
I will say, however, that the location is very nice and the facilities are good as well. However, losing access to the beach will certainly be a negative change and the inter-mixture of the clientele due to marketing this as a gay resort may be a source of tension.
I am a long term fractional owner and have not visited here since last February and March when I was down here for six weeks. I will be going again in late January and staying for eight weeks. I am both eager and concerned about what I will find.
