Didn't want to leave!

I stayed here for a week with my mother. Excellent location- right across from Buckingham place- short walk or tube ride to the rest of the city. Extremely helpful concierge and doorman- they were extremely friendly! Had our bags inside and our check in information ready before we were even out of the taxi! Convenient location to train and bus station if you will be visiting other parts of the country. Concierge knew the tour companies well- Evan Evans tours picks you up at the hotel. Our room was very smalll but incredibly comfortable- great bathroom- provided bathrobes, lotions, sleepmasks etc. Tea and coffee service in the room was great- room was cleaned and restocked perfectly everyday. Breakfast was wonderful- with a lot of options, room service ws equally good. The lounge/bar is a great place to relax in the evening or have afternoon tea. The restaurant-The Library- was really impressive-expensive, but well worth it. Very quiet- so if your completely exhausted from sightseeing or business like we were- you can count on being able to take a nap. Our view was the only thing really lacking- all we could see was the hotel across the street, but we weren't there often anyway. I will definately return!

I can't believe these other reviews. Be ready for a shock. $* for a 10' X 10' "closet". No room to even put bags. $*drinks. $* chicken dinner. $* internet per 1/2 hr. BAD value for money. So many other choices.

Great location, beautiful rooms and impeccable and courteous staff. Definitely our 1st choice again. Very near to multiple rail linesand rail station nearby has lots of food, pastries, etc. for most hours.

Rubens at the Palace

Rubens at the Palace starts at 150GBP. It is conveniently located near Victoria station which meant is was close to the Subway, restaurants and pubs. It is also on Buckingham Palace Road and some rooms have views of the palace.

The lobby is small and dark. There is a doorman and a little restaurant off to the side that I did not get a chance to go to. We were upgraded to a room in the Royal Wing which was absolutely amazing.

We took the elevator up to the floor and had to use a key to access the Royal Wing. Once entering the wing, the hallway walls are all mirrored. Each of the 8 rooms in the wing are named after a British King or Queen. We had "Mary Queen of Scots". The only bad side to this room is that there was no window.

Walking into the room you immediately notice that it is going to be a themed room. It is not large, but there is more than enough space for two people and all of their luggage. The carpet, chairs and bed spread are all plaid. If you aren't sure who Mary is, there is a spotlight on her large portrait above the bed. Framed portraits of Scotsmen line the side walls. There is a chandelier over the bed. The foot of the bed houses a television set with a remote control that lifts the TV out of its stand for easy viewing.

The desk has a dog statue and all office accessories. A stapler, tape, paper, pens and paper clips. There are complementary magazines, jelly beans and water.
A do-not-disturb sign does not exist. Instead you push a button next to the bed, and a light outside of your room goes off letting everyone know to leave you alone.

The bathroom is clean and completely filled with amenities. There is a television with speakers behind the toilet. There are statues in the bathroom and the final touch, a fresh red carnation.

I highly recommend this hotel because of its location and the attention to detail. It was a comfortable stay. The bed was amazing and was turned down every night. The service was superb. Although the hotel was centrally located the room felt quite isolated and I was so homey I felt extra comfortable.

The desk personnel helped out a lot when my wife got sick. Rooms are expensive when compared with U.S. but its not in the U.S. The suite was nice but small. Hotel is across the street from the Palace. Would stay there again if I return to Londone.
