Perfect Hotel and Location for London

The other 2 reviews really said it well. This is a beautiful hotel with every comfort and luxuary. After walking all over london the luxuary feature is really appreciated. It is worth every penny and if you book direct with marriott.com you can get a pertty good price.
Our room was the largest I've stayed in in the UK, 2 doubble beds (not singles) and really nice long tub for soaking with nice quality products. The tube holborn tube station was right around the corner!

I did not eat at the hotel, TOO expensive, but there is a starbucks across the street (where I managed to pick up a free wifi signal) and a couple other brekfast places in the vacinity.

London hotels are fankly expensive, so why not spend just a bit extra for convience and luxuary and feel like you got something special for your money.

English elegance. Great location. Great service.

This may be the nicest hotel I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The bed linens are of the finest quality available. The maids return to freshen the room at least twice a day. The rooms are equipped with electrical outlets to accomodate plugs from any country in the world, including the USA. Towels are thick and luxurious. Every evening, a maid returns to freshen the guest room and to place a cloth (a beautifully ironed and starched linen mat) next to each side of the bed. The lobby always has an impressive floral display and nice baskets of fresh fruit and Toblerone chocolates for the guests. The location is excellent, right near the Holborn underground station on the Picadilly line (which is the same line that terminates at Heathrow airport. As such, I would advise taking the Subway from and to the hotel, rather than a Taxi. The Underground will cost about 4 pounds, a taxi about 60-80.) The hotel is within 15 minutes ( walk or a short subway ride ) from Soho, Covent Garden, Trafalgar square, the British museum, parliament, Tower of London, London Eye, and many other attractions. The gym in the hotel is nicely equipped and, as far as I could tell, usually unoccupied. My wife and I thought the hotel was a great value, especially because we "paid" for our hotel and airfare with Marriott points. If I had to pay for it, I would advise not eating breakfast in the hotel. It's good, but very expensive. My only complaint: I was surprised that a hotel of this caliber charged 15 pounds a day for in-room internet service (wired).

Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel

This beautiful hotel was well worth every dollar. It is located on High Holborn, and the Tube station is a half block away.

The facade is very early 20th century. You enter through a little passageway. As soon as you get out of your taxi, the doorman is there to open the door and the porter takes your luggage away for you.

The hotel lobby is lusciously beautiful: gorgeous dark wood and marble through out. The staff, Ben in particular, was first-rate and will do anything for you. In fact, because we were going to be there for 5 nights, we got an upgrade to an executive room.

Our room was very large, by London standards. We had two queen-size beds, two club chairs, a sofa, a desk, and more. It was decorated in a kind of traditional/modern mix, almost with an Art Deco feel to it. The bathroom was all marble with a deep tub for the weary traveler. The beds were uncommonly comfortable. I did not have to get used the mattress at all. All in all, a fantastic room.

As we made our way to the elevator, we passed by the large marble staircase. Staggering to see such an ornate staircase that was just everyday normal in earlier times. The marble is an off-white color with grey veining. The doorman there told us that you cannot find that type of marble anymore. In fact, the marble staircase alone is worth about 2 million pounds. Yikes!

Our hotel package (through American Airlines) also included a buffet breakfast. Breakfast took place in the Lounge area. Breakfast was simply great. They had everything on the buffet, from bacon to scrambled eggs made with cream to fresh fruit to eggs Benedict. Everything was made to perfection and saved us a lot just on money for food.

At the hotel is an award-winning spa and The Pearl restaurant. The chef, Jun Tanaka, used to work for Gordon Ramsey.

Service is exemplary from concierge to waiter. Location cannot be beat. Owned by Marriott, they took four painstaking years to make a first-class hotel. All in all, I would go there every time.
