I recently traveled to London with my 15 year old son. The Rubens is conveniently located to a number of major sites, local pubs and the tube. The area seems very safe and walking to Buckingham Palace or to dinner was never a concern. The hotel staff was for the most part very accommodating. We arrived mid morning after an overnight flight from the US expecting to stow our bags until check-in. Our room was ready when we arrived and we were allowed to check in early which was a welcome surprise. Our room was small (but typical for Europe) and well appointed with comfortable furnishings. The staff was always quick to respond with any additional needs we had during our stay. We ate two breakfasts at the hotel and while the food was good, it was a bit pricey. My only dissatisfaction with our stay was with one attendant at the concierge desk. I asked for directions via the tube to Abbey Road and he rudely responded that there was nothing to see there and that we should not go. We went anyway and it was one of the highlights of the trip. The staff working at the desk should not offer their opinion unless asked. All in all our stay was very acceptable and I would consider staying at the Rubens again.
