Since 2007 I've stayed at hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, and friends' homes in Germany, Sweden, Ireland, Scotland, and England. Rubens was by FAR the most luxurious and and elegant hotel I've had the pleasure of visiting. In fact I was afraid it might be "snooty", but instead it was like staying with dear friends-friends with a gorgeous home directly across the street from Buckingham Palace.. From the 1st minute we walked up and were greeted by the handsome doorman, to entering the lobby to have the excellent concierge team help us in any way possible, to the front desk and dining room personnel, the whole Rubens team could not have been more helpful or friendly. I booked the room in February and got a great deal on the price. My cousin, a friend from Germany, and I shared a beautiful and extremely clean Executive King room (with an extra bed for the 3rd person). We enjoyed the complimentary coffee and tea in the room as well as the bathrobes and toiletries in the equally clean bathroom. Then there was the breakfast buffet, which even my friend from Germany, a country famous for their wonderful "Fruehstucks", said was incredible, as was the service. We ate so much we didn't need lunch! We also enjoyed late night drinks in the lounge while listening to a pianist play and sing American standards, and I even had the pleasure of watching the World Cup finals in the bar area with other fans. The location could not have been better: Buckingham Palace, Westminster and Big Ben, train, tube, and bus stops, pubs, and restaurants, as well as excellent souvenier shopping all in easy walking distance. We hated to leave our home away from home and can't wait to return to London and Rubens.
