Best Things Nearby:
There are a lot of things to do nearby - even through this hotel is the last on the hotel zone in Cancun, bus transportation can take you anywhere. There are a lot of outdoor markets right on the strip about 15 minutes from the hotel - there is an indoor mall about the same distance. Along with the clubs for clubbing. Transportation is provided by bus to the clubs - no need to drive. All the different kinds of tour are also located on the strip (if you do not want to book at the hotel - money savings is basically nothing). Plus, it beats the hassle of booking when you get to where you want to go. There are ruins close by. Coba is about 2 hours and Tulum is about an hour away. Both are very nice to see, and I highly recommend them.

Best Things About the Resort:
This resort is very small compared to the other Palace resorts, but the service is outstanding. The waiters are very friendly - they actually go out of their way for you and will try to accommodate you with just about anything you ask for. This makes up for the resort being small. The other Palace resorts are larger and do not have such good service. Plus, there is 24-hour room service at thie resort with a pretty terrific menu.

Resort Experience:
The resort itself is small, but has everything you would need while you are on vacation. It has a jewelry store (great prices - better then in downtown Cancun), a clothes shop (pretty good priced t-shirts, bathing suits, sandals, tanks, tops, dresses, jackets, towels, etc.). The restaurants are all terrific. If you do not see something you want, they will make it for you.

The lobby was a nice size, not too big; it is connected to the lounge area with bar, and at night there is something always going on there. The had a happy hour each night starting at 6PM with special types of food, which was very nice to have after getting back about that time on some excursions.

They had a couple of special shows in the ballroom of the hotel, which are a must to go and see all of them. Circus night was one night, which was fantastic, along with different types of dancing shows. All a must see.

The pool area was small, but very nice and very clean, with activities throughout the day depending if people wanted to participate. The beach was very nice, with huts and lounge chairs all around, and bar service now and then. The water when we went end of June was warmer in the ocean than in the pool. The waves were kind of large at times, but a lot of fun - no undercurrent when we were there.

The rooms were nice and clean, and the maids are very friendly and try very hard to please you. Except for the problem we had when we first checked in the unit they assigned us (TC108), our second room was very nice with a very nice ocean view.

Our experience was not a pleasant one as far as accommodations. Our unit was #TC108, which was on the first floor of this hotel down a long corridor. We were told it was a partial view of the ocean. When we arrived there, we opened the curtains to the balcony and we were facing a very run-down tennis court with no partial view of the ocean. The only way we could see the ocean was from the corner of the balcony. There was no privacy at all if the curtains were opened. The people on the tennis courts could see right into your room. We immediately called the front desk to find out that there were no other rooms available for 2 days, so we were stuck.

The room itself was nice and very clean, but when I booked this hotel, we were told that we would have a full ocean-view room, which was not the case. It seems that the hotel gives the RCI members rooms that are not as nice because we have a timeshare already. The people without a timeshare are offered the better rooms and then are pressured into going to their timeshare presentation at the Moon Palace. As this being our first experience in exchanging, we were a bit taken aback.

Sun Palace

Best Things Nearby:
Beach, shopping, downtown Cancun

Best Things About the Resort:
Beach, very friendly and helpful staff, good food, nice clean rooms--cleaned and stocked daily, affordable gift shops, nice pool

Resort Experience:
We were very impressed with The Sun Palace! The Sun Palace is just the right size, not too big and not too small, very comfortable. The location was great, far enough away from downtown to be quiet and peaceful, but just a short bus ride away when you wanted to shop or party.

We really enjoyed the beach. It was very clean. There were a few large rocks along the water’s edge, which were nice to sit upon and added beauty to the beach. There were no rocks in the water. The water at the Sun Palace was a beautiful blue and was crystal clear. The waves did get a little rough at times, so if you wanted to swim, it was best to use the pool, but if you just wanted to get wet, play a little, and sunbathe, the beach was the best. The bar staff even came down to the beach to get drink orders!

The staff was very helpful and friendly. They recommended things for us to do and made our stay so enjoyable. If we wanted anything, it was there. If we had a question, it was answered. Service was truly their main goal, and they achieved it! Our room was very nice and clean, with a beautiful view and large jacuzzi tub. There was a small fridge in the room for drinks and a liquor cabinet, well stocked. Our room was cleaned daily and restocked with plenty of towels and toiletries. The housekeeper made animal figures out of towels, turned down our bed at night, left chocolates on the pillows, and left nice notes. We felt like stars or royalty!

We were very pleased with the restaurants - there were three or four open each day, with additional bars and snack areas. The food was very good, and the menus changed slightly each day. Again, the waitstaff was excellent, especially the breakfast staff. The buffets were huge, with a good variety to please any taste. We ate almost every meal at the resort, with the exception of when we were on a day trip and could not. We ate once at the Moon Palace.

We visited the flea markets and shops, but ended up buying most of our gifts and souvenirs at the hotel gift shops! Their prices there were the best, as well as the quality, and they wrapped our items very securely in bubble wrap for the ride home.

We visited other resorts while in Cancun, some larger, some closer to downtown, and can honestly say that we like the Sun Palace the best and will stay there again if we return and have recommended it to our friends. We were very pleased with our stay, our tours, and the all-inclusive way to vacation. Although tips were said to be included in the all inclusive fee, we tipped because we felt that they went above and beyond in their service! We definitely recommend this resort!

Best Things Nearby:
The Beach was gorgeous! Also, we were at the very end of the hotel zone, so it was a very short bus ride to shopping and nightlife if you went off the resort!

Best Things About the Resort:
The Jacuzzi and mini-bar in each room.

Resort Experience:
The hotel has exterior corridors with beautiful views of the lagoon across the way, and an ocean view from the interior. The hotel was very clean, and the staff extremely friendly. We never had to tip for towels or drinks or anything.

The food was delicious. One of the restaurants was under construction while we were there, so it was a little limited, but we could always go to one of the other resorts and try their restaurants. Each night there was the option of a buffet, or a la carte. Most nights we went a la carte, just so we didn't stuff ourselves.

Taxis were expensive, but the bus was cheap, 6 pesos per person. We went diving in Cozumel while we were there, through one of the resort tours. It was beautiful but a very long day! We also went to xel-ha! It's an ecological park that was recommended to us over Xcaret because we were told we would see more fish and things. That was pretty neat, it was an all-inclusive park, so all food and drinks were included, as well as towels and snorkel gear. There were a lot of people there, but it's a huge place! I highly recommend it (the resort and the park)!

Palace Resort at Sun Palace

Best Things Nearby:
Within the resort, you have everything at your fingertips... no need to go outside unless you are wanting to hit the bar scene.

Best Things About the Resort:
This is an all-inclusive resort, and it really has it all! Poolside and beachfront lounging are great for relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends. The food is great, and if you want to eat elsewhere you have access to all the Palace resort restaurants with your stay here.

Resort Experience:
The resort itself is very nice and clean. The lobby was beautiful and had a great service staff. All the amenities were right on... workout area, pool, jacuzzi, beachfront, water activities, etc.

Our room had a great view, a hot tub, and a big bathroom. It was spacious and very comfortable. I wish it had indoor entry into the rooms for a more luxury feel. It was very warm and humid when we visited and I would have loved an air-conditioned interior hallway.

If you are looking to honeymoon here in Cancun, like we did, beware... it still has a "Mexico" feel to it. There is a constant raw sewage smell everywhere you go and the crowds are a bit young (spring break-ish). We had a good time and enjoyed ourselves, but didn't ever feel like we were staying in a luxurious place and never felt pampered as you should on your honeymoon. I recommend this resort/town for a young couple vacation spot, but not necessarily a honeymoon location.
