Harbour Lights

Best Things Nearby:
The shopping, the shows, the golf, the restaurants, and most of all, the BEACH

Best Things About the Resort:
The resort is quite new, and there are wonderful views from virtually every unit.

Resort Experience:
Harbour Lights Resort is one of Bluegreen’s Gold Crown Resorts in Myrtle Beach, SC. It is a fairly new resort, and construction is still in progress. The resort is located in the Fantasy Harbour complex, just west of the Intracoastal Waterway, and is less than 200 yards’ walking distance from the Medieval Times Dinner Show.

The building for our two-bedroom unit was only a few months old, so everything was brand new. All units have a large "stackable" washer/dryer, which is good since there is no complimentary mid-week cleaning or linen exchange. The carpet was immaculate, and although the furniture was definitely not "high end", it was in excellent condition. The unit was decorated in a nautical theme, with lamps shaped like buoys and lighthouses and pictures showing boats and harbor scenes. The master bedroom had a king bed and a hutch with a 25" TV and DVD player. It opened to a master bath with a large garden tub, double sink, and a good sized (3’x4’) walk-in shower. The second bedroom had two queen beds and another similar 25" TV; its adjoining bath had a single sink and a curtained tub/shower. The dining/living area (also with a 25" TV and DVD player) opened to a 7’x12’ screened patio, which offered a fantastic view of the Intracoastal Waterway. It was fun to watch the boats and barges as they traveled up and down the river. If you want to have a unit which faces the Intracoastal, you should try to get Buildings 16 through 22. Other buildings have nice views of the lagoons on the property. All of the buildings have three floors, but be aware that only the newly constructed buildings (6 buildings as of this writing) have elevators. Local telephone calls are free.

The resort has a beautiful indoor/outdoor pool, a "lazy river", gameroom, and a fitness center, but planned activities are somewhat limited. Harbour Lights has the usual activities (usually for a small fee), including crafts, ping-pong tournaments, and a bingo night, along with ice cream socials offered on several days. The resort concierge can assist you with tee times and show tickets. There are more restaurants in the area than you can count. We enjoyed the Carolina Roadhouse, which has a wide assortment of salads, sandwiches, BBQ, and steaks. If you enjoy great steaks and Italian food, we’d suggest you try Angelo’s, which is not much to look at from the outside but has one of the best Italian buffets in the area.

All in all, Harbour Lights Resort is deserving of its Gold Crown rating. We’d be very comfortable exchanging here again.

Best Things Nearby:
Boardwalk, Medieval Times dinner theatre, shopping, fishing charters, several restaurants, Charleston and Fort Sumter

Best Things About the Resort:
Beautiful resort and accommodations. The pool and lazy river were great. The unit was spacious and there was a very helpful staff.

Resort Experience:
You can't beat this destination with a family. There is something for everyone and not very far away. We did so many things we almost needed a vacation when we got home. The boardwalk shops and putt-putt golf were great. And you have to go to the Medieval Times Dinner Show. We even had our picture taken with a baby white tiger. It was great.

The accommodations were a pleasant surprise. We had a two-bedroom condo, which came with a screened-in porch and full kitchen as well as living room. The place was clean and well maintained.

The staff were a very easy to deal with...I would recommend this resort to anyone.

Harbour Lights Resort was the perfect place for smaller children. It overlooks the Inland Waterway with a "lazy river raft ride" that my granchildren loved. The resort has three floors but no elevators, so try for ground floor. The one-bedroom was spacious and had a screened porch. Conveniently located and less hectic than beachside resorts. We took advantage of their all-day state park pass to spend time by the ocean. It was less crowded and there were lifeguards, making it safe for kids.

Best Things Nearby:
Waccamaw Outlet Shopping Center within walking distance. Knight's Dinner Theatre just outside the resort. Intercoastal Waterway runs directly behind the pool area and some of the units.

Best Things About the Resort:
Lovely decor, immaculate rooms, very courteous and helpful staff, and great pool/lazy river/spa and indoor pool as well!

Resort Experience:
We stayed in a studio unit. It is the size of a hotel room, with a small refrigerator, microwave, TV/VCR, small table, king-size bed, and full bath. It was perfect for my husband and I. The room is decorated in a nautical navy and red theme. It was lovely and immaculate.
