Penns Landing is a stretch of land that borders the Delaware River just outside of Center City. The strip is about 10 miles long and it is historically known for being the first part of land that the city's founder first touched when arriving at his new city. Over the years Penn's Landing has grown thanks partly to tourism and commerce, and has become a host to a large majority of Philadelphia's recreational activities. To take a walk down the Landing is absolutely free, you may do as much or as little as you like while you are there.

While at the Landing, depending on the season and scheduled events, any number of things can be going on. There are numerous kids festivals, concerts, fundraisers and benefits put on throughout the year. Including a huge fireworks spectacular put on during the 4th of July that cannot be missed. A schedule of events can be viewed online at www.pennslandingcorp.com, to check out the latest events. Whether you are staying for a day or for a few, there are so many things to do at the landing. You can take a short boat trip down the Delaware, check out the Seaport Museum, take in the sights of the Ben Franklin Bridge, our take a tour of any of the numerous ships that often home in the Penn's Landing dock. The landing also stands as the gateway to New Jersey, for a small fare you can hop on a ferry boat and take a short jaunt to the other side and see the sights in Camden, New Jersey, attractions include seeing the aquarium or listening to a concert at their music center. What ever you choose to do you are sure to have a great day in sunny Philadelphia!

Nice! Take the ferry across the Delaware River to Camden, New Jersey, to watch a baseball game and/or go to the aquarium. Just don't explore the city. Why!? Just ask the locals.

Penn’s Landing

This is the place where every summer and fall you can come and listen to jazz, or participate in various competitions or watch navy ships. Along the peers of the Delaware river there are lots of night clubs and dance clubs. One of them, Rocklobster has free ramba lessons every Thursday. There is also "Dave and Busters", where you can eat and shoot pool or play slots. This is also the place where you can see the fireworks during the New Year and Independence day. There is also an Independence Seaport Museum which doesn’t have much but shows some of the sea artifacts. The area right across Penn’s Landing, that is if you cross I-95 by the bridge on Chestnut St. is called Society Hill and is the most prestigious place to live in Philly. The real estate value here is the highest in the city. There are also 2 Ritz theaters within 4 block radius where you can see elite movies. If you choose to cross I-95 by another bridge on South St. several blocks down, you will find yourself in the area where young Philadelphians love to spend their Friday and Saturday evenings in the summer. There are night clubs here on every corner and nice restaurants and at 12 midnight this place has as many people as Market St. at lunch time.
