- There is so much to see and do in Alaska's Interior Region. This journal features several of the things I did during my week.

- Fairbanks and its surrounds was my first stop in Alaska. A typical vacation isn't enough time to see this geographically enormous and culturally diverse state.

- Fairbanks is Alaska's second largest city and the gateway to the state's interior and Denali National Park. While my visit to Fairbanks was very short (less than 24 hours), I found it to be a very interesting small city.

- Our main reason for going was to see the International Ice Sculpture competition. Teams from many countries spend several days creating the most fantastic ice sculptures you’ll ever see. There are dog sled races and dog sled rides. We also took a flightseeing trip over the Arctic Circle.

- I spent 10 wonderful days in Alaska, starting in Anchorage, going south to Kenai Peninsula and the north to Fairbanks, the Arctic Circle and Denali National Park. From there we flew to Juneau, for more adventures. For more information, check my report at http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/4363/alaska/ak_main.html

- When I thought of Fairbanks, I thought of cold. Now I think of warmth.

- Fairbanks totally rocks! It breaks my heart to read how some people think it is a violent, dangerous place to visit. There is much to do and see here, and Fairbanks makes the best staging area in preparation for trips to other locales within Alaska.
