I work so that I can afford to travel. Having a job that provides me the opportunity for some business travel is a bonus!

About Me: We love to travel and with our timeshare ownership we've been able to exchange into some wonderful resorts. David and I have been married seven years and we have a mixed breed pound puppy named Heidi. I'm originally from the Washington, DC Metro area (NoVA) and with the exception of a three year stint in Iowa (2004-2007) I've made Milwaukee, Wisconsin home since 1994.

Travel plans for the rest of 2009 include: Orlando for a family reunion of sorts with my sisters and their families (Thanksgiving) and Nashville (Christmas).

Looking ahead, 2010 will bring another trip to Hawaii, this time back to Kona with my sisters . . . and the "David & Von Alaskan Adventure" . . . a 17 day exploration of Alaska via RV! As much as I would love to squeeze in a weekend trip to Anchorage or Fairbanks in March, it doesn't look like it's going to work out. Never say never, however.

As for "soccer travel" in 2010, there is the US Soccer Federation Annual Meeting in New Orleans in February; US Youth Soccer adidas Workshop in late February in Ft. Worth, Texas and the US Youth Soccer Nat'l Championships and Annual Meeting in July at a great facility in Overland Park, Kansas. The Region II Championships will be held the month before in Ohio, which I may or may not attend.

I'm also looking at a long weekend road trip for the July 4th Holiday - maybe to South Dakota . . . the Badlands and Mt. Rushmore. Perhaps we should rent an RV to take a trial run before the AK trip?

More About MilwVon

I travel because...

it helps to keep me sane! I also find travel to be very grounding in terms of the world around us. Rather than just looking around at what's here I prefer to get out and experience it first hand.

I love to travel to...

Alaska, Hawaii, Virginia, Florida.

I never forget to pack...

a camera, whether it is my small pocket sized digital Canon SD600 or my Olympus Evolt 500 DSLR (and four lenses).

My weirdest travel habit is...

photographing my meals for IgoUgo reviews.

It's my dream to travel to...

in no particular order: China, Russia, Egypt, Italy and Greece.

Now that I've been to Churchill, Manitoba to see the the polar bears, I know I am going to have to do one of the grizzly fly-in tours in Alaska, probably to Katmai Nat'l Park! NEWS FLASH - We'll be doing a grizzly viewing trip to Lake Clark Nat'l Park (Alaska), a coastal area to view bears in their natural habitat (Sept 2010).

When I'm not traveling...

I'm thinking about or planning future trips. Right now I'm totally consumed with our Aug/Sept 2010 trip to Alaska that will include nearly two weeks of RVing from Fairbanks to the Kenai Peninsula . . . and back.

I also travel online at...

TripAdvisor.com, FlyerTalk.com and several timeshare sites including TUG2.net and TS4MS.com. I also enjoy checking into Fairbanks via the News Miner's arctic cam (www.arcticcam.com).

National Geographic has some nice sites and used to have web cams for polar bears and grizzlies but this past year (2008) let us down. I hope they return for 2009!
