Depends what you are looking for...

I just got back from spending a week at the resort. First thing is first, this is by no means a 4 star hotel. If you are wanting upscale or "newer" this is not the place to go. HOWEVER, with that in mind it is a resort that keeps you busy and provides a good time. The staff is very nice and they plan activities for both adults and children throughout the day that are a blast. The food was pretty good especially breakfast! I upgraded to the M experience because my basic oceanview room was more like a 2 1/2 star. The M Experience was absolutely worth it! Better bedding, 3x day maid service and I had hammock on my porch. Overall I had a good time, it all depends what you are looking for.

I stayed in Nov. 2008, had a wonderful time. The ataff was great and the bartenders were the best. I have stayed at other places and this ranks right up at the top. You will not be disappointed.

More than I expected!

Beautiful grounds and ambiance. Room was clean and comfortable, but I missed having a coffeemaker and they were kind enough to send one. Beds very comfortable. Service was excellent throughout, they are committed to ensure your comfort and satisfactin. Food is good at all locations, and the buffet has enough variety to keep it interesting. The resort and surrounding area feels very safe.

We decided to travel to a different part of Mexico and chose to go to Puerto Vallarta. We chose the Melia and wanted to try the all-inclusive plan. It turned out better than we expected. The service was great! The rooms got cleaned everyday and the food was good. Of course its not gormet but it was good, there was variety of foods everyday. One of the things we enjoyed was the entertainment they provide for the kids. Melia is very family oriented, not a place for a romatic getaway for two. The drinks were good all the service was good. We are very pleased and consider bringing our whole family next time. You should get the ocean view its beautiful and worth it.

Good, But Not Great

I travled to the Melia with my boyfriend (we're both 22) in October 2008. Here is our pros and cons: First of all, going in October was a great idea. We guessed the hotel was probably only at a quarter to a third of their capacity. While we were never thrilled with the cuisine, we did think it was worth the all-inclusive price. There were alot of choices but we found ourselves eating just about the same things everyday because we knew they were safe. The desserts were gross though. Rooms were nice. We had an ocean-view and it was pretty updated. Nice furniture, everything was clean, air conditioner worked very well, good water pressue. My boyfriend was really upset we didn't have a flatscreen TV so if you want that you better upgrade to the M Experience. We had alot of laughs watching the hotel channel. Our fridge was always stocked with Dos Equis, water, and soda. Leave your lady a dollar or two everyday and she seems to give a little extra attention. Pool was nice. Lots of places to sit. However there was no hot tub/jacuzzi! They had 2 little areas in the pool where there were benches and jets came out, but they opened to the rest of the pool so they were not hot. Also the pool closes at night! We didn't like that. Beach is crap. We only went down there to rent a jet ski one day. It was dirty and the vendors were annoying. Staff was great. Very helpful and nice. Only annoying ones were the timeshare people who hound you. We just kept saying "not today." After about the third day they gave up. All in all we had fun, but we'd just stay somewhere else next time.
