okay stay, great staff

i needed a getaway vacation to just relax, although this is a very nice hotel, it is more of a family resort filled with family activites not a romantic/relaxation getaway. I wanted nothing but beach, but the beach is tiny. the grounds are nice, the food is okay, not bad for buffets, the staff is always willing to help you with what ever you may need, tip:dont sign up for anything at the airport... it may be a waste of your time.

Great family vacation

Our family vacation consisted of 20 family members and everyone was impressed with the resort. The food was good, great pool and great service. Every evening there were shows that were appropriate for all ages. There were plenty of activities for children at the Melia. We had to wait for our room upon arrival due to a power outage. Other than the initial frustration of trying to get checked-in, the rest of our stay was wonderful. Would definitely book another vacation at this resort. Beach area was ok, but we stayed at the pool (bar) and had a great time.

great Family time to get reaquainted

This was our 5th all inclusive and my personal favorite. Husband, I , sons (22&24) and daughters (16&12). My sons being the ages that they are usually do not vacation with us anymore. I desired a family vacation and completely ejoyed our time at the Melia. One of my sons is very outgoing. He hooked up with kids in his peer group and had a great time. (Even if he came in late several times.) Our other son is quiet , but still enjoyed time by the pool, enjoying the atmosphere and drinks. Our daughters participated in a few of the pool side activities. All in all, given the various ages, I think the vacation was a success and very memorable. Rooms (2) were upgraded and greatly appreciated, even though one was slightly mildew odor. Staff is outstanding. Food the best I've ever had at an AI. Just be careful what tours you book at the hotel. We did Pathfinders aka Treks dune buggies and were scammed. They claimed I ruined a clutch in a dune buggy and since they had our credit card we had no recourse but to pay. Be wary of them. otherwise the other excursions offered at the hotel were okay. We loved horsebackriding and the canopy tour. The only recommendation I would make as far as improvement would be to have the activity staff get to know families on a more personal level. This was probably my girls least favorite AI and I think it was directly related to the fact that usually when we go AI, the activities staff make a point to make small talk and personally encourage my kids to participate. Not that they were bored! We still enjoyed our time.

Vacation in PV

Very nice All-Inclusive with excellent service. Our June stay was during the 'low' season, so, not too many folks competing for the resort's activities and services. Evening dancing/band is nightly until midnight and located in the same building as the hotel's front desk - noise (boom, boom, boom) might be a nuisance so, choose your hotel room wisely. Tips are not required, but, appreciated - if from the US, bring some $1s to share with the staff. Also, the hotel/resort seems to do it's best to keep all very clean - provides free bottled water as well - but, it's still a very good idea to bring some medications for those unexpected (yet, very very common) intestinal issues. ;) It's close location to the airport is not a problem. PV area is still in a growth phase - going from a poor community to a more developed (and prosperous) one. It's going to take some more time and funding from the general community before it can be considered 'clean.' and a scenic town/city. In any case, the Melia Puerto Vallarta All-Inclusive is a wonderful place to stay for a family vacation. If we visit PV again, we'll definitely considerstaying there again!

Good times

Clean and secure resort. I was impressed with the peacefulness considering this is a family resort. The grounds were beautiful and the resort was in close proximity to the city and Marina. Although the activities at the resort were diversified they were limited. No nightclub on grounds and adult beverages were limited to scheduled locations. The staff was great, both friendly and efficient. One word of warning....beware the timeshare presentations.
