Pleasant trip with small children

Went with 3 and 5 year old and the children's pool was the perfect place to spend our day. Slides that entertained for hours yet shallow (approx 1 -1.5 feet deep) enough not to worry about kids. The food at snack bars was at best mediocre for an all inclusive. Unfortunately we ate there more than we wanted. (1. for convenience- close to beach and pool, and fast and 2. THE RESORT DID NOT LET US EAT AT NICE RESTAURANTS more than 1 night because we were only there for 3- lame policy they have even though we emailed our reservation request for all 3 nights - in advance before we left). Also if you would like to request cakes for bdays etc, do it at least 24 hours in advance. I didn't and although they honored my request there was a lot of resistance. Rooms are clean but older, refurnished. Everything was convenient- we had balcony overlooking main pool and ocean- nice view for basic room. They were super caring toward the kids and provided fun activities at pool and before shows at night. Everyone there was super nice and gracious- that made all the difference. The beach and pools were so comfortable and warm. The ocean was not white sand or turquoise, as a matter of fact the water washed up what looked like black soot onto the sand. The sand did sparkle like glitter in the sand - which was pretty. I just loved the water because it was calm enough to play in and the kids enjoyed that so much! No shells could be seen. The beach did seem to go on forever (didn't get to walk it but really wanted to). The were beautiful mountains in view from the beach.

Nice Vacation

We enjoyed our vacation very much. As the week went on we enjoyed it more. The rooms were clean and the service good. The grounds were in very nice shape only thing is buildings could use some paint. Italian and steak house were good places to eat, buffet was O.K. Our only problem was the sales talk, They were very pushy and made experience very unconfortable. We are members at the Westin and enjoy it very much. But if you have young children this is the place togo. They had alot of activities for the children. The private adult pool was also nice if you did not want the hassel of alot of traffic. They did all the offered and we would go back again if the opportunity comes.

Worst Family Vacation ever!!!!!

Our family vacation was ruined by staying at this awful hotel. It started with the rude person checking us in and yelling at the people in line over our heads and talking so fast he never answered any of my questions and shushed us off without our luggage. Next the room had a leaky faucet, the curtains were burnt, the bedspread had not been washed. When I ordered room service for my kids the plates stayed in the room for 3 days until (after many calls) I went to management to complain of all the issues, the front desk response was" sorry" that night they picked it up. I asked to speak to a manager and the manager spoke to me via the front desk person BUT would not come out to see me- INSANE!. The conceirge person had no clue what she was talking about because she directed us in the wrong direction twice.Food was terrible, no flavor- same food, just a different name. The pools were over crowded and not clean- murky water. The treatment we received was not just reserved for us we met other couples from the US there who overheard us and got the same treatment. The Taxi driver to the Airport was the best service we received. This was not 4 stars.... not even 2 stars!!!

We all had an great time. We were traveling with teens, and neither of them wanted to leave. The food in the restaurant was very good, and they were open and responsive to every request and need. This is a great all-inclusive for teens and for children.

This an excellent resort. We have stayed in several hotels in Nuevo, and Marival is the best!Great staff! Very friendly! resort is split up so if you don't want to be near all the families in the pool, the adult pool is on the other side.I recommend a pool side room(if possible)it's real handy.the buffett is so-so, but that is the nature of an all-inclusive resort. The resturants were very good unless you are a picky eater(remember you are in a foreign country)Great for the family. I am a single father of 2, and my boys had the time of their life.Careful about eating food from the beach vendors(I got sick the last night,my fault).Have fun, we did!
