We spent a day at the Mayan Palace pool and heard many complaints from people saying that there was no hot water, maid service, etc., at the Grand. We were glad we had stayed with what we had. There were ocean-view rooms and quiet and nice pools, and it was just a few steps from beach, unlike the other two. Most of the wait staff, etc., spoke little English, but they always got what we asked for.

If you're traveling with children, they have activities for them and could also learn a bit of Spanish.
There would be some other activities to keep you busy such as yoga, aquaerobics, merengue lessons, chess tournaments, golf, volleyball, cuisine lessons, etc.Resort Experience:My unit was a one-bedroom unit located on the second floor and facing the ocean, which was really great since I could take a look at the beautiful sunsets when I was not out of the resort.
The bedroom had a king-size bed which was really comfortable, and if the weather was a little hot, I could always turn on the ceiling fan to have a more pleasant time at night.
The living room area had two large sleep sofas and beside it a little dining room area if you wanted to have your own meals at the unit.
If your budget is kind of tight, staying there is great, because you can bring your own groceries and fix yourself a little snack by using the kitchen facilities of the unit where you could find all needed kitchen utensils and also a small refrigerator.
The bathroom had two doors to keep privacy between the bedroom and the living room area, which was really convenient to me; there were also plenty of towels and they took good care of replacing them every day.
On the property itself, you would find a big pool for adults and one for children, private beach area, restaurant and also an aqua bar if you just want to lay in the sun and ask for a drink.
The resort's staff would always have activities set up for you to make you have a wonderful vacation so do not miss them out.
Among the different activities set up by the resort you shouldn't miss a visit to the "Cobalto" disco, which is located at the Mayan Palace facilities, which are just a short walk from there and where you would have a Cuban night and also karaoke night.
I would finally add that if getting away of the stress of the big city and work is a main need for you, this would definitely be a great place to stay.
