My husband and I absolutely love this hotel. The staff couldn't be more helpful. The location alone was wonderful but added to that is the character and charm of the French Quarter. I highly recommend Place D' Armes.

NIGHTMARE (including bugs!)

We checked in only to receive a room that had no windows. NO windows at all. The room smelled stale and when we looked around to find where the smell was coming from we saw large stains on the wall and ceiling around the airconditioning unit. When we went into the bathroom, we saw cockroaches floating in our toilet...that was the final straw! We went down to request a new room and let them know about the condition of the room and they charged us a surcharge for a room with a window, peeling paint cracked walling and filthy carpet. The sheets were not changed daily...and the pillowcases everyother day. Beware, there are no convenient ways to find your room, the staff gives you directions and lets you flounder until you return confused and put off by the confusion. The pool is small and has fungus and mold growing around the edges and on the bottom. The staff is generally rude and short when you ask for anything so you are pretty much at the disposal of your own devices. We really wanted to change hotels but alas, we had given Travelocity our money for the reservation and could not figure a way to get refunded so we had to suffer with the roaches, smell, and cracked --dungeon that had been given. Please if you read this do not stay at this location, it is sad how they are still operating and taking money for rooms that should be condemned.

I took my 10 year old child down on the train for the weekend. The hotel was in the perfect location. A half block from Jackson Square and close to everything we wanted to see. The room was plain but clean. This is not a luxury hotel so don't expect that. It was staffed with friendly people, in a safe, good location for someone with a child, and had a good pool for afternoon swims. The breakfast is nothing more than a pastery and coffee, but if your looking for eggs and bacon there are lots of good places close by.

We came to New Orleans not knowing what to expect after Katrina and were so pleasantly suprised! The Place D Armes made our stay so pleasant because it is close to everything. It was even included on our haunted hotel tour! I had heard that some of the rooms are small, so paid for the courtyard room and it was fantastic. Very clean. Only saw 2 cockroaches the whole time we were there and these were outside - none in our room. The service was very helpful with recommendations on places to go. We're planning a return trip in a few months and will definitely stay there!

Place D'Armes

The room that we got at Place D'Armes was extremely small, had electric outlet that was busted open and posed safety risk, shower had mold and mildew in it (this is biggest problem for us), AC went were dusty so our allergies acted up. The service was not up to hotels rating - no new soap was given when it ran out, one day service maid left dirty towels in the shower. Pool was so murky that we did not even bother to enter while the temperature outside was 110 F with humidity index. On our way out we saw deluxe room across ours which had at least 50% more space in it (we were in room 502). We did like the location of this hotel and prices although when we inquired with local tourist center about price for that particular day they quoted us $*and we paid $*.
This hotel left a lot to be desired - so we spent as much time outside as we could.
