La Bodeguita Is a Must in Puerto Vallarta

Probably the most famous place in Puerto Vallarta today.

Great Cuban Food! order family style. We had shrimp with tamarind sauce, fish with toasted garlic, ceviche and great beans, rice and fried bananas. It was really delicious...

La Bodeguita del Medio invented MOJITOS 66 years ago. They are delicious and refreshing. Have at least one. They make hundreds of them and that probably gives them the unique flavor.

The sthmosphere is nice either in the daytime or at night. They always have live music in the restaurant. It is always played by real Cuban musicians brougt directly from their headquarters in Havana.

All the walls are written by hundreds of thousands of clients thru the years. A lot of pictures with celebrities adorn the walls. It is nor rare to see someone famous.

They have a great souvenir shop wit great tshirts, cds, authentic cuban cigars. They sell Mojito Kits to prepare your own mojitos at home.

it is right on the malecon in old town Vallarta. It is busy every night. A good place for early dinner and sunset on the ocean.

You have to go. locals and tourists enjoy it a lot.

I wish we had something like this in NY!!!!

The mojitos favoured by Ernest Hemingway, the shop selling authentic Cuban cigars and other items, the Creole Cuban food, and the graffiti-adorned walls were not the attractions that drew us in. It was that there was a table free overlooking the Malecon, and beyond that, the ocean. The fact that one could get a sandwich, fries, and a drink for 690 pesos also helped us make our choice of where to make a stop for lunch.

We only learned about mojitos after we departed and had ordered beer and margaritas, although we did wonder what that drink with the leaves in it was. At a table adjacent to ours was a very pregnant lady drinking beer who was slaking the thirst of her toddler by giving him sips of the same. We ordered the all-inclusive specials, which could easily have been shared by two. Tasty though the filling was (pork for one sandwich and Creole chicken on another), I felt the bread had been left out just a bit too long, as it was somewhat dry.
