This is the second time we stayed in the Hilton New York. The first time was in May this year and now in December (Dec 19th – Dec 27th).
Check-in:The arrival in the hotel was good. Because of our VIP Gold HHonors membership we were allowed to check in at the special desk for diamond and gold members. After check-in we got up to our room and I was a little bit disappointed of the room. It was very small; smaller than the room we had in May. This room wasn’t renovated, which it wasn’t a big problem because it looked all so clean. There was also no in-room safe. We were staying for 8 nights and there for we went back to this front desk. We asked for a change of room if this was possible. Well, she looked into her computer and finally gave us a renovated room. She was so friendly and she changed the room without any fuss. For a few minutes we talked about our country, because she visited The Netherlands in the past.
The room:Room was spacious and refurbished. The bed was comfortable with white linens. What I liked the most was the lighting. You were able to make the room cozy, just like home. There was a sofa, desk with a chair and a flat screen TV. The shower doesn’t have shower curtains, but a door of glass, which makes the shower more spacious and comfortable. The bathroom had a hair dryer and toiletries, like shampoo, conditioner, soap, mouthwash, and lotion. The bathroom has a large shower, but not a tub. I didn’t mind that at all, because I prefer a shower instead of a tub.
I have one major fault to the room; It was very warm throughout the night. Only the heater is working during the winter months, so no air-conditioning. We opened the window very often to cool down the room.
Breakfast:We ate breakfast (complimentary) in the New York Marketplace at the hotel. For a few days it’s OK, but not for a whole week and more. Every day the same food, no change at all, was something I didn’t like. There was always a long line for breakfast. This wasn’t the case in May. If you only want a cup of coffee, Starbucks is attached to the hotel.
Location:Finally let’s talk about the location. The location of the Hilton can't be beat! Wonderful location in the middle of tourist attractions like 5th avenue, MoMA, Times Square, Central Park, and Rockefeller Center.
Final comments:Well, we experienced this hotel during the summer and the winter and we had both times a wonderful stay. It’s clean, it’s spacious, the rooms are very nice and as a HHonors member you have some privileges.
I would definitely stay here again!
