Incredible Food and Ambiance

This restaurant has an awesome buffet which would satisfy any palate, with raw oysters, and several seafood bisques, PLUS the churassco BBQ'd meat that the Pirate servers bring to your table until you cry uncle. The decor is also something to behold, and the washrooms are the most unique on the planet (the urinals are rectangular trays full of ice cubes, and the floor is loose gravel)!. A truly unique dining experience with eye-popping surroundings!!

Insane Price - Walk on By

Unless you want to pay three times the going price for a seafood meal in Rio, don't go to Marius. Three people, two drinks each (beer, wine, caipirinha - nothing fancy) cost R$650 or more than 400USD. The food is very good, but not nearly as good as several places elsewhere in Rio (go to Barra de Tijuca - even taking a first class car service, you'll get better food and spend less money). This place was fine 10 years ago. It's now a classic tourist trap.

One of the best seafood restaurants I have come across in many years. A must do for Rio de Janeiro first timers, although on the pricey side but delicious lobsters and shrimps and other seafood served continuously. Note that the dinner menu does not include the appetizer buffet or desserts.

A popular recommendation for tourists, it is very much overpriced, especially when you can get similar meal for about half the price at other churrascarias.

Decor is "upmarket beachcomber." Marius has two restaurants next door to each other, one is meat-based and the other fish-based.

If you get to know Brazilian churrasco (barbecue), Marius really isn't anything special, despite the hype. It's a nice setting and the food is average, but there's a wide selection.

Marius takes the typical Brazilian churrascaria (restaurant with all-you-can-eat meat) one step further and adds a great selection of seafood in addition to the beef. There was quite a spread of both beef and seafood dishes brought around. In addition, the buffet itself would be an incredible spread for most people. You definitely need to come with a big appetite when dining here.

The interior of the restaurant was quite nice; it was elegant in a relaxing way. Though it was expensive by Brazilian standards, it was still quite cheap compared to what you would pay for similar food in the US. The bill for two of us, including drinks, was less than $50.

Any trip to Brazil requires at least one visit to a churrascaria, and I would recommend Marius as that one stop.
