I definitely would stay there again!

Pool is very nice, the rooms are very clean, breakfast buffet is fairly decent, courteous and friendly staff. It is conveniently located to Copacabana beach, Christ Redeemer, Sugarloaf, restaurants, shopping centers, etc. Also, the price is very reasonable. The only reason I don?t give 5 stars it?s because is a little bit noise (or probably were the next door people) aside from this, I definitely would stay there again.

Great breakfast

Excellent free breakfast, book free airport shuttle in advance. Noise from adjacent room's bathroom is very noisy. If you want to save money, do not book tours through hotel menu. It's much cheaper if you book through Gray Line Tours on line before you arrive Rio. Overall, hotel is in good location and room is good and clean.

Copa in Rio!

The Excelsior Hotel was great. It's located directly facing the Copacabana beach in Rio, so it's an easy walk across the street to get to the sand. If you go, pay the extra money to get an ocean front room, because it's worth it! The hotel is super clean and modern by Rio's standards. The staff is great, and plenty of them speak English so it's easy to get helpful hints about where to eat and where to go. The location is somewhat questionable when it comes to safety though, as Copa can be unsafe at night in certain areas, so you can't walk too far from the hotel.

Great place!

Fabulous accommodations. Had a corner triple with 2 ocean views. Marble counters. Wood cabinets. Comfy beds. Paneled bathroom. Very clean. Safe. Great location. Helpful staff who spoke English. Wonderful breakfast buffet such that I wanted to get up! Staying in style! 3 doors away from Copacabana Palace.

Hotel Excelsior Copacabana

This is a modern, well-equipped hotel located on Copacabana Beach. Amenities include a swimming pool and exercise room for guests. The rates run from around $100 for a standard room to over $250 for a luxury suite. I had dinner at the Excelsior, where I enjoyed a cold buffet featuring salmon pastries, various salads, and delicious pork and sundried tomato medallions. The hot buffet consisted of beef medallions, codfish, whipped potatoes, croquettes and chicken. The appetizers were particularly interesting: cod fritters, a pastry of chickpea and beef tasting of anise, and germanic fare like salami, cheese, and quail eggs.

The hotel was modern and well-equipped.
