- Sometimes called "the Swiss Riviera," Lake Lugano is tucked into the southernmost region of the Ticino province, with towns like Lugano and Gandria having an Italian flair.

- Having spent a lot of time in the German speaking part of Switzerland, I felt that visiting Ticino would be a good way of experiencing a different side of the country. My destination was the city of Lugano, which proved to a charming place.

- We ran, we ran from the rain, the cold and even the snow in central Switzerland, to the warmth and palm trees of Italian Switzerland draped with the reverse majestic backdrop of the Alps all bridged together by the sprawling sparkling Lake Lugano and lake side resort Lugano.

- The atlas says Lugano is in Switzerland but, as the name suggests, this picture-postcard paradise clings to its Italian roots. Situated in the south-central district of Ticino, Lugano is separated from Italy by palm-tree studded lakes and the Alp’s lush foothills.

- Lugano, Switzerland, an unexpected gem tucked away in the Swiss Alps, surrounded by a menadering deep blue lake peppered with Venetian-type villages along its banks, has the rich flavor of Italy. Words and pictures cannot describe its beauty.

- I found Lugano to be a busy and modern city with lovely lakeside promenades lined with flowering trees and fountains at the squares. Lugano is only 40 miles from Milan. Hence, close on the heels of its more fashionable neighbour, Lugano too boasts of designer shops and famous brands.

- One of the most nicest regions of the country. Very attractive and always a warm welcome. Some of the best services, too.

- Lugano is my hometown - or more or less. I was born and brought up 7 kilometres south from it... I thought I hated it, I left it for more exciting places, I always came back.
