Great Stay

Stay 3/36-3/29. I loved this hotel. One of the most beautiful I have ever stayed in. Doormen in the day time. Staff was very friendly(not overly...didn't give funny faces if you didn't tip) BED WAS INCREDIBLE!!!! Flying in from NY there was a bit of an adjustment to make, but this bed caused us to lose some our vacation, LOL. Our room was small, on the 5th floor facing Broadway (small like south beach small, but we were used to that since we travel there often).Bathrooms are very modern looking. Very safe hotel overall, room key needed to access elevators. Fitness room was the best and cleanliest one I had ever been in - Truly a joy to utilize. We didn't have the opportunity to try any of the hotel's restaurants, but they looked great. FYI: Ask for room with view on high floor(higher than 5, Wifi UN: lucia PW: lucia (they may comp it if you don't purchase it)

stay away!

The hotel is an older remodeled hotel. The interior is very nice and the design and decor are modern and contemporary. the staff doesn?t even make an attempt to make your stay any better. When I checked in, the front desk staff was dry and not very friendly. I booked a Queen Room. The room is barely big enough for the bed. There's hardly any room to walk around. Since there's no sitting space, you're forced to spend the day sitting in your bed. The bathroom and shower are extremely small and separate from each other. There was a window unit that wasn't regulated by temperature. When it was on, it got really hot and stuffy; and if you turned it off, it got really cold because the windows are poorly sealed. So there's no happy median for the temperature. I would not suggest anyone to stay here!!!

A Wonderful Honeymoon

Husband and I stayed at HL on our honeymoon. It was a great place! The decor is beautiful, one of the reasons we choose the HL. Yes, the rooms are small, but it is a boutique hotel and they felt cozy and like a swanky bedroom, instead of like your typical hotel room. The beds are SO comfortable, and they have a pillow menu to choose different types of pillows. The staff is very accommodating; they give you a newsletter of sorts of what is happening around Portland that week, we saw something that we wanted to do, and asked for directions from the hotel desk. They were able to get online, get us directions and information, and get us a taxi. Very helpful. The location is great. We didn't rent a car and had no problem getting around using the train, trolley, and taxis (sorry I don't remember the real names!). I would stay there again in a heartbeat, and am planning a vacation at their sister hotel in Nashville (Hotel Preston) this month.

FRONT DESK & ROOMS

some of the front desk staff were excellent and others were self absobed. The Valet and bell staff were excellent and friendly. The rooms look great, but are very small. Not a bad thing, but if you are looking for a room with a view, talk to the front desk. I was put facing an alley on the small room on the 2nd floor... avoid the low floors...

Small Rooms - But Nice

The rooms are very small, but avant-garde modern. Very different than a typical hotel. Kind of felt like you were staying in an art gallery. The bathrobes were a nice touch. We will stay again, but be sure you don't have a lot of stuff or try to fit your kids in a room with you, because it won't fit.
