Try Another Hotel

My husband and I checked into the hotel early and our room was ready. The hotel lobby was pleasant and clean. We went to our room. It was nicely decorated. We had three problems. First, the bathroom tiles were loose and there was no grout in the spaces. The water pressure in the shower and sink were very low. Finally, the comforter in the duvet was too heavy for the weather. We had to remove the comforter from the duvet to be comfortable. The maid service was just ok. The front desk was 1/2 hour late for our wake-up call the day we needed to get to the airport. It was disappointing.

Decent Hotel with Terrible Staff

This is a great hotel for the Gloucester Rd. area, and the rooms were generously sized, however a word from the wise...the wait staff are entirely unhelpful and downright cold. I arrived at precisely the 2pm hotel designated check-in time and was made to wait a full 2 HOURS for my hotel room to be cleaned before receiving a key!!! All the while, the front desk staff had no satisfactory explanation, made no apologies for the delay, and management was rather cool about the ordeal, without any offer to recompense us for the two lost hours of my trip spent patiently waiting in their hotel lobby. Additionally the concierge was not knowledgable about suggestions for where to dine late (other than the hotel's own bar/restaurant) and we were awoken by the sound of loud construction pounding one morning at 9am, and received no explanation as to the nature of the noise that was clearly coming from inside the hotel. To top it off, we were called by the front desk one late morning to find out if and when we were to leave the hotel room, so that they may change out the drapes. Why, this couldn't be done prior or after our stay is beyond my comprehension still. Overall, the hotel staff were generally inhospitable & unapologetic in their demeanor toward the guests, which is surprising considering the rating of this hotel.

I came to London for my first trip abroad, and I definitely lucked out big time with this hotel. As a single female traveler, I felt incredibly safe and secure at the hotel, even coming back in late at night. The location is right across from the Glouchester Rd. tube stop, there's a Tesco's across the street, a pub nearby, and you're about a 5 minute walk from free museums! The concierge was wonderful about finding cool activities for me during my short stay! Keep in mind- the "small" room is extremely tiny. I still liked it, but couples will want a larger space. Also, the hotel restuarant has an excellent wine list, but the food is pricey and not very tasty. You're better off hopping across the street to the grocery or any of the many many restuarants in the area.

my sister and I stayed here and loved it! We were here on vacation and were delighted by the location! Right across the street from the tube and several eateries made this hotel a perfect choice. Even though we were in our hotel room for only a short time every day, its location made it perfect for all of our tours and sightseeing on foot. It was very clean and well maintained. Our rooms were always cleaned and the bathroom was clean as a pin every time we came back from our day away. Would definitely stay here again!

This is definitely an old hotel. The floors make noise when you walk on them and the hotel struggles to keep up with modern amenities. You'll notice the biggest difference in the bathroom area. I had to switch rooms because the internet connection was not working, and two of the other four travelers in my group that stayed here had to switch for one reason or another. One of their rooms had only partially been cleaned when they went it. Upon check out, I was improperly billed for internet charges. I cleared the matter at the front desk before leaving, but the hotel later billed for the charges anyway. This is a hotel that I would always try and find a better alternative first. The only positive I would really say about this hotel are the rates and the location. It is right across the street from the tube stop and convenient to get to many areas.
