Puebla de los Angeles

A September 2001 trip to Puebla by lobosolo

Visiting relatives, this occasion we came to Puebla to be in birthday party of my wifes uncle for his 70th birthday. It only was a weekend visit, but we did enjoyu it a lot. I hope you can use this info for a very enjoyable visit yourself.

We came with my 4-year old daughter and my one-year old son, who did not enjoy the party itself, but had a personal youngster party at the hotel room. But on Sunday they did have the times of their lives - er, their weekend.

Quick Tips:

Some of the people invited decided to go shopping for antiques and rustic furniture and fixtures at a neighborhood market.

Best Way To Get Around:

Best way to get here is probably by highroad. It is only a 1 hr. drive away from Mexico City, and I would say it is almost worry-free when it comes to getting lost. Just next to Benito Juarez International Airport at Mexico City, you take Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, which will take you to Puebla directly, of course giving you the choice to stop at different small and interesting folk towns and a magnificent view all the way, among a lot, that one called Paso de Cortes, which was used by the conqueror himself in the 6th century. Of course you can also fly from Mexico City or get a connection flight through it.
Very comfortable accomodations on the non-luxurious side, though. Ours had two full-sized beds and we added an extra bed for the babysitter. However, you can get one here at the hotel for about 40 USD per night. If you are looking for total relaxation in your room you could ask for a corner room which has a jacuzzi included. However the view is beautiful in all rooms above the fourth level. You can visit them at www.hotelcondadoplaza.com.mx, or e-mail them at info@hotelcondadoplaza.com.mx or fax them at (012)2379305. Ask for Lic. Perez Liceaga and be sure to tell him you are reccommended by CYPSA.

Restaurant

A genuine Mexican buffet with lots of home recipes that would please anyone that likes genuine cuisine from Mexico. The restaurant has a huge patio and different salons, just in case you have a special event to celebrate in groups ranging from 20 persons to up to 300. The patio is a perfect place for kid to run and have tons of fun, but just in case they still have energy left, they can visit a small zoo and horse rides at about $1 each, all within a safe and secluded site with lots of landscaping for your relaxation.

Attraction

A park and zoo at a restaurant seem a rare combination since they are by themselves interesting, but please take a while to visit the description of the restaurant.
