SKY

Sky is a nice place. The main floor is a beautiful pub with two wood finished bars, and plenty of tables. The second floor yeilds an open space which becomes the dance floor, with some couches off to the side to recreate a small lounge area. Adjacent to the lounge is another room- a go-go strip bar. A large room, well lit, plenty of seating, and in the center is a small elevated circular platform where the boys do their thing. No poles or furtniture on stage, just fully naked men. Just sit down and waiter will serve you. It seemed to me the normal routine is for a guy to dance to a song, then leave the stage. There appeared to be 4 men working that night, simply rotating turns.

But the entire complex was free of charge with totally resonable drinks prices. A must see...

Sky Club/Sky Pub

This 7-year-old establishment is located in the heart of Montreal's Gay Village, between Metro Beaudry and Papineau. While Friday and Saturday night always draw quite a crowd of stylish, handsome revellers at Sky Pub/Club and Sunday always bring a fair number of 30 and 40-something guppies to imbibe at the Happy Hour, it is Tuesday night (who knew?) that steals the show.
Tuesday night is Sky Pub's infamous 3-year-old 'Mardis Martinis.' Here 20 to 40-something revellers of all sexes and orientations don one of their most fabulous outfits and come to listen to a night of exceptional performers. The entertainment begins typically at 10 pm and ranges from jazz to hip-hop to disco to salsa/merengue; this night is often a showcase of the brilliant local vocal talent, but occasionally performers come from as far as New York City, Toronto or Vancouver. Get a seat early, as the $3 cover makes this night a steal...believe me, the place will be packed.
After the musical entertainment ends downstairs, the party begins upstairs. The crowd here is in their 20s and early 30s typically. Don't show up too early (midnight is typical) for 'la Règne des Drags' where you will be greeted by Madame Simone in 10-inch platforms. I would tell you what she wears, but it varies so radically from time to time- a chest of drawers with candy in it on one day to a hat illustrating the city of Montreal (wearing a leopard-skin catsuit) to something equally outrageous and fun. The drag queen DJ Mado Lamotte spins a fabulous mix of disco, Latino, francophone and other danceable stuff; Mado always laces the music with humourous parties. La Regne des Drags, while not for everybody, is a rocking-good time.
One more hint: If you're not a big martini fan, downstairs ask for a long island iced tea à ta façon. It's the best long-island iced tea and served in a tall glass to boot. Beware though, there are about 3 drinks worth per glass. Best to stop at one iced tea!
