Best Western Premier Bangtao Beach Resort & Spa Phuket

This is not your parent's Best Western, rest assured! The Bangtao Beach Resort and Spa is located about 25 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Patong Beach and about 40 minutes away from the airport, but it is so worth the few minutes added drive. Instead of wall to wall bodies on the beach at Patong you have a long expanse of fine sand at your disposal with few to jockey for position with.

The resort is situated on the beach and all rooms have a balcony that overlooks both the magnificent pool and beach. The rooms are very large by Phuket standards and luxuriously appointed with soft bed linens and comfortable furnishings. The tile flooring was immaculately clean and such a good idea for a room so near sand. Amenities in the bath were adequate, but an overabundant supply of towels made for an easy trek to the beach whenever I wanted.

The staff was very accomodating during my visit and helped with offering advice for side trips around Phuket. They provide shuttle services to Patong, Phuket City, and several other areas of interest on the Island. One of the front desk attendants even brought me to a pharmacy in her own car when I had a slight emergency!

When the shuttle isn't available taxis are very inexpensive and are easily arranged at the front desk. The free Internet access in the lobby was problematic, but it was free (if you walk directly off the property and look to your left you will find an Internet cafe!).

The restaurant on site is open 24 hours a day. I find this to be amazing, since when I visited (during the rainy season) the hotel was virtually empty, yet when I went to the restaurant at 2:30am an entire crew of waiters presented me with a full menu to choose from. I felt like a King! The menu offers a wide variety of standard American and Thai options at reasonable prices. The coconut ice-cream sundae is a must!

The Bangtao Beach Resort is just far away from the partying of Patong to offer a tranquil environment for rest and relaxation, but still a short cab ride away if you want to partake in the merriment! I recommend the Bangtao wholeheartedly!
