Best Things Nearby:
The beach, some cows, and Galveston (20 miles away).
Best Things About the Resort:
Great natural location and very nice rooms.
Resort Experience:
This resort has a lot going for it. The location is outside of Galveston, so you can avoid a lot of the crowds, traffic, and noise associated with staying in a beach town/vacation spot. It's got a tremendous asset in that it's literally right across the street from the beach (this portion of the beach is not crowded at all). The rooms are great, spacious two bedrooms with a balcony and two full baths. The location is within driving distance of NASA and Houston.
The resort however needs to do a lot in the way of amenities and activities. The pool is okay, but they don't have a fitness center and the activities include shuffleboard and games in the main center (yawn). No group fishing trips (although I'm sure they'll give you a number of some local charters), no booze cruises, and no snorkeling. The restaurants are a bit of distance away (closer to Galveston and the nearest and best grocery store is a Wal-Mart in Galveston about 15 miles away, and a Kroger not too far past the Wal-Mart).
Overall, it was a nice, quiet week of timesharing on the beach. We went in late April and the weather was great, not too hot and the water temps were in the 70s.
I'd recommend it if you're looking to relax and spend some time on the beach. If your looking for your day to be filled with resort sponsored activities, then look elsewhere.
