Great Customer Service

The front desk and gift shop staff were wonderful. The rooms were small, but neat and clean. Housekeeping was great -- and very safety aware. Restaurant and bar situation not good. Wouldn't recommend eating there. Over-crowded; limited hours; not great food. Chef not willing to accomodate people with allergies -- considers it an "inconvenience." But - close to transportation. Easy to find way around. Would recommend.

Very pleased

The customer service was exceptional. Very friendly & helpful. Got personal calls from the manager & head of customer service welcoming us & offering to help if we needed anything. Rooms were clean & of high quality altho our room was very small. Drapes needed upgrading--alittle worn & there was a plastic clip used to keep the dark out screens closed--didnt meet the overall quality of the hotel. All in all a great experience, would stay there again.

Is What it Is

Clean hotel and right at the corner of California and Van Ness, so getting a trolley is no problem. Also, there is a Budget rent a car just up Van Ness so you can rent a car overnight if you want to head up to the wineries. Very convenient.Didn't eat anything at their restaurant...too much to do in San Fran to stay at the hotel all day.

Just right.

This is a solid hotel: decent, clean rooms and a good staff. The neighborhood is a bit off the beaten path, but there are loads of good, cheap eats on that block, including an all-night diner. Never had the least worries walking back there late at night.

A Pleasant Place to Stay

I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn. My room on the 19th floor faced the busy Van Ness Ave, but it was relatively quiet. The room was medium sized and looked like it had been renovated fairly recently. My bed was firm and comfortable, not at all springy like someone had complained. The bathroom counter was somewhat too small for all my items. There was no plug for the bathtub, so I presume the message was take a shower. There were extras like an ironing board, hair dryer, coffee and limited cable TV. I would stay here again.
