Haunch of Venison

A wonderful old pub/restaurant with its specialty being venison. The building was constructed over 650 years ago as the church house for St. Thomas's which is just behind. The atmosphere of the pub is enhanced the the massive beams, timbered walls, an open fire and a tiny snug located off the lobby entrance. An upper room has a small window looking down to the main bar, a large fireplace, a 3 century old oak chair and, the most interesting thing, the mummified remains of a 18th century card player's hand, still clutching his playing cards.
A unique feature of the bar is the pewter bar counter with its rare set of antique taps for gravity fed spirits.
