- Despite officially being District #1 of Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon is the most historically significant name; few cities offer a more fascinating past.

- As we made our way back from the north for our departure, we wanted to go out with a bang! We had experienced what we wanted: to be part of the pulse, the real life of the people of Vietnam. Now we could be tourists for a little while.

- Get your mind reprogrammed about images of conical hats and army bases, because this city has grown up to be quite a lady! She likes her maiden name too, but her brothers to the North insist on calling HCMC.

- Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is located in southern Vietnam by the Saigon River. It is Vietnam's largest city, and is bursting with history and culture. This journal is about the places I visited during my trip to South Vietnam, and my experiences in this post-war country.

- Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) is to Vietnam what New York is to the US, it may not be the countries capital but it is it’s largest most vibrant and bustling city. It was also the first place I’d ever visited in Asia and unsurprisingly it blew my mind.

- My wife was born in this city and still has many relatives living in Saigon, so we try to make it back at least every year. This journal describes MY favorite attractions around the city, which for the most part were simple observations I made that had true meaning and impact to me.

- Saigon is different than anything you will find in Vietnam. Today it is a fury of sights and sounds, a city of excitement and promise. There is much to see, though Saigon is more a favorite of Overseas Vietnamese than many Western tourists.

- It always seems as if there are so many changes in Saigon with each visit, but even so, the old and the new parts of the city converge and make a stay and exploring all the more fun.
