- The "Trans-Siberian Golden Eagle," an upscale excursion train between Vladivostok and Moscow, usually includes a side trip to Ulaan Baator, Mongolia, en route. Here are photo highlights from my June 18, 2008 visit.

- May I warmly recommend to anyone who comes through UB to go to the UB deli near the circus. It is the coolest little restaurant in town—it has really good sandwiches and Western dishes. In the evening it becomes a bar for the local expats.
