- A book tour—promoting my debut novel, The Englishman’s Cameo, a detective story set in 17th century Delhi—may not be the best way to see India. But it certainly gives me a chance to check out hotels and places to eat in India’s biggest cities!

- The city of Patiala is known for its embroidery, its extra-large shots of liquor - and the larger-than-life lives of its erstwhile maharajas. With its palaces and colonial bungalows, Patiala makes for a rewarding weekend getaway from Delhi.

- For everybody in Delhi who’s sick of eating daal makhani, tandoori chicken and naan (or anything Indian, for that matter) there are restaurants that offer other cuisines too. A brief introduction, and some reviews: Mediterranean, to start with.

- Amritsar's normally a one-day stop for most visitors. Due to a bit of a planning error, we ended up there for nearly four and came to live this quirky dirty city.
