Upon entrance to this lush, stunning resort, we were greeted with cool towels (a MUST, as it was May and the weather was intense) and a lovely glass of champagne. Our check-in was completed promptly, and our luggage was sent to our room as we embarked upon our first culinary experience.

Spices (the main lunch resturant at the time... there is also the grill downstairs) is a beautifully appointed enviroment. You have the feel of being somewhere secluded and exotic. We ordered tacos, and boy were they incredible. Tasty, crispy, and just melted in our mouths. Definatly a fantastic first impression!

We then headed off to our room to unpack. The room was wonderful and had tile floors, dark woods, and beautifully bright colors. A bowl of fresh fruit and a bottle of chilled champagne was also waiting for us. The bathroom was very spacious, with a very large shower, double sinks, and the best part, a Jacuzzi tub! We felt as if we were in our own little corner of heaven.

Dinner was interesting, we happened to arrive on the day when the dinner theatre was having a fiesta. The food was OK, but the show made it worthwhile. It was buffet-style though, which I personally am not a huge fan of for dinner.

Las Ventanas was probably our favorite dinner destination. The steak was sublime, and the wine paired with it equally so. The presentation was beautiful enough to warrant us taking pictures!

Spices is the place to go if you are a seafood lover. We didn't ever get a chance to dine there for dinner though. Breakfast was incredible, a very nice buffet, and lunch of course was mouth-watering.

Palazzo was the most romatic spot to dine, I recommend asking for a table on the terrace, the view alone rivals the food! It's typicall Italian fare, presented beautifully.

The beach is a nice spot... there was always a waiter nearby to bring us anything we wanted. The water is warm, beautifully blue, and there is a "private" part of it blocked-off for resort guests only.

We didn't spend any time at the pool, as the ocean was actually a more pleasant temperature for swimming. The Bar & Grill there was nice, and there were always various activities and workshops going on.

The spa is also a nice place, if you have the time. I had a wonderful massage and facial while I was there.

Take the time to schedule trips, there is usually someone on-site who will walk you through the various options. We did a scuba trip and a trip to the Tulum ruins. Be sure to take bottled water with you though, as it seems hard to come by when you are out and about.

Overall it was a beautiful resort, and an incredible trip. I highly recommend Royal Hideaway.
