Cedar Pass Lodge

Cedar Pass Lodge is located inside Badlands National Park, right next to the Visitor''s Center. It''s not really a "lodge" but a collection of cabins located behind the gift shop/restaurant. We stayed at the "Cottage" which had enough beds for 6 adults. We put 9 people in there (6 adults and 3 small children) without a problem.

The cottage was air conditioned, had a washer/dryer, freidge, and stove/oven with minimal cooking equipment. This place is nothing fancy. The carpet and furniture were a bit dated, and we had a couple of minor maintenance issues, but the operators of the lodge seem to be slowly making improvements. Not a bad place for a family to stay for a few days.

If you want an open year round campground while watching the stars, this is one of their two campgrounds. From April to September, there is water, flush toilets and tables. After these months, only chemical toilets and water are available. So, when traveling from the direction of East, bring some tree leaves as toilet paper. LOL. Just kidding!

Laundry, service station and groceries are about 3 miles away. There are no shower facilities at all. No Kidding! The cost is $10.00 per night;with a 14 day limit, during regular season. The nearest town is Interior, S.D.

You may reserve group camping by writing to the park in advance. A 10 person group is a minumum.
