This hotel was amazing--tranquil and rejuvenating. Great views and lovely rooms. Clean, bright, and welcoming. The staff was very accommodating. We wanted to stay one night longer than we had originally booked the room for, so, having no regular rooms, they moved us to their "special" attic room. It was weird at first with the low ceilings but charming in the end. The breakfast was perfect, and the location couldn't have been better. It was only a few minutes' walk into the walled city of Siena. The walk was certainly needed after a big evening meal.

Santa Caterina was my perfect home away from home. Just outside of the Porto Romano, and an easy walk to the main piazza, the hotel was friendly, clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderfully helpful and it came to feel as if we were staying in a friend's home. Our room had two levels with the bed on a loft and large windows that looked out over the Tuscan countryside. But one of the best features of Santa Caterina was the delicious breakfast (included) buffet of breads, cheeses, yogurt, juices, coffee and cappucino which could be taken in the charming breakfast room or eaten outside in the gorgeous garden.

You would never mistake the Hotel Santa Caterina for the Ritz. Small, spotlessly clean rooms with private baths, buffet breakfast and color TV mark this place. Friendly, helpful staff people who speak English mean you can ask for directions, get recommendations for lunch and dinner, book a tour or just chat. If I stayed there again, I would request a room in the back. It would be quieter and you would get a better view of the walled city of Siena across the valley. You are within walking distance to the Roman Gate and the center of the city.
