- The once great city of Siena was conquered by its powerful Tuscan neighbours who stifled further growth. It remains a glorious medieval jumble of steep alleys centred round the breathtaking Piazza del Campo. We spent one indulgent day and night here -– these are the bits I can remember.

- A beautiful country ride from Florence will bring you to this famous hilly city. It's small enough to walk, and in a few hours you can have a delicious meal and see a couple of splendid sights.

- Simly enchanting...we had three Italian friends take us through this medieval town. We spent one whole day exploring the narrow streets and marveling at all the wonderful sights.
