1. Upon arrival at the airport you will go through customs, then pass through two lobbys go past them these lobbys are full of time share people it is the third lobby that will have the transportation and taxis available. 2. Kids- The kids had a wonderful time. They loved the pool, bigger than our backyard. They loved the kids activities, the shows, the beach, everything. 3. Food- The food was fine we enjoyed the soups and the main courses. Some of the baked desserts could have used more sugar. 4. Beds- Very firm, if you have a bad back bring extra padding. 5. Beach - the beach was somewhat rocky but is definitely the best hotel beach in the area.

Our week at Canto Del Sol

We just returned from a week at Canto Del Sol. Our rooms were not ready when we arrived, we had to request differant rooms the next day. When we went to the front desk to request our room the next day we were told we had to get on a list for the next day. We then went tGuest Services and stated we wanted to transfer to a differant hotel, at that point they seemed to have a nicer room for us that was not behind the restraunt. We were transfered and were finally offered all the ammenities that were included in our package. The food at the hotel is all the same, they say the have a differant menu each night but they just call it something differant. Breakfast was very good however. The pool area is very nice but they have to many peaple for the area available. There are times during the day that you can not find a chair or lounge chair. I have been to Puerta Vallarta 6 times and will not stay at this hotel again. The hotel was clean and our rooms were well maintained. However the staff was unfriendly and to busy to help.

Puerto Vallarta is beautiful, the mixture of ocean and mountains rejuvenates the mind. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach was extremely nice. Breakfast was fine, the other meals left a lot to be desired. The margaritas were undrinkable worse I ever had ( a number of people commented). The do have a local beer that is pretty good. The pool area is too small so everyone marks off a chair with their towel by 8:00 AM. If you go to the pool around noon your not sitting down. The time share was the worse, they try to humiliate you they take much longer than the 90 minutes they claim. Than after about two hours and the third person they send you the forth guy who's rates are why less than half of the first three people. When I was in college I would have rated this much higher, but if you are use to traveling you'll be disappointed.

Good location and good value for the money

My husband and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary and we were pleased to find our room decorated with towel animals (bride and groom) and flowers placed throughout the room. We also had a cooled bottle of champagne waiting for us with a basket of fruit. Most of the rooms in this hotel have an excellent view of the pool and the ocean. We found the food to be better than we expected. It is buffet style, so you can try anything you want. We were not able to use our coupon to eat a nice sit down meal instead of the buffet, because you have to make reservations and they only take reservations from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. We didn't check in to our hotel the first day unitl late afternoon and then we were always away from our hotel doing something. We met a lot of nice people staying at our hotel too. The gym is very, very small which was disappointing. We had planned to get up and run every morning, but there isn't even a treadmill! We tried to run on the beach, but there were too many rocks. We wanted to participate in the kayaking, but we never saw anyone doing this and when we tried to ask about it in the lobby the lady was always on the phone. We walked by a few times when the water aerobics class was taking place and it looked like everyone was having fun. We were disappointed in the karaok night. It was really short. They said they couldn't do it very long because of the hotel guests sleeping, but when we were finished they turned the music at the bar up really loud. Seemed weird. We thought the hotel was clean and quiet.

Do not expect a room on arrival

I paid fully for this room six months in advance. I phoned to confirm my room reservation two days before arriving, telling them that we would arrive around 11:00 pm. The hotel reception desk assured me that all was in order. We arrive as scheduled, late at night, to be told that the hotel had no room for us and that there was no hotel manager on duty with whom we could speak, and that we would have to go to another hotel for the night., which we did. When we returned the next morning for the promised check-in, we were told no room would be availiable until the next day. After demanding to speak with a manager, and being told many diffferent stories by the front desk people, we finally got a room. I watched this "no room available" happen each day as people arrived with a confrimed reservation. Thus, no not trust that a room will be available when you arrive. Further, the front desk people really do not care, simply do not care. This hotel is not a tourist friendly hotel if there is a problem; you will be left on your home. Expect no help from the hotel desk staff. If you want a secure reservation upon arrival, this is not the hotel to stay with. I would never go back here again. Surely, there must be other hotels operating on a more professional business basis.
