Very popular with business travelers and European/US tourists. The staff at the Taj will go out of their way to take care of your every last need. They will even assist you in booking train/plane tickets.
The hotel makes a grand entrance. Outside, valets dressed in Moghal costumes will greet you at the foot of the marble staircases. The inside is an even grander marble palace with an off-key string quartet playing Mozart and other standards.
The rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated in rich tones. The hotel has its own water filtration so you can brush your teeth to your heart's content. If your jet lag is kicking in, there's 24-hour room service and plenty of cable TV options.
The hotel has four restaurants. Cafe Fontana is open 24 hours a day and offers many options on its menu. Masala Art is an upscale Indian restaurant where you can watch chefs prepare your food. Tea House of the August Moon has Chinese food and a pond running through the restaurant. Orient Express offers upscale continental cuisine.
There's also a nice pool and a spa offering massages, hair cuts, etc. The gift shop downstairs is a bit pricey; however, you can always grab postcards, books or snacks.
