Huge Rooms!

This hotel is known for it's GIANT bath tubs! I had heard great things about this hotel from friends for years, but never stayed until recently. The idea that the hotel was located in a mall parking lot left something to be desired. However, I found that once inside, the location didn't matter & actually it was quite convenient for shopping. I was pleasantly suprised to find that the beds were cozy, the rooms very large & the little things like coffee pot & sundries were better than average. The bathroom has a spa feeling and is huge! The only thing this hotel lacks compared to others is exercise facilities & pool/hot tub. The front desk will give you a complimentary pass to a gym located in the mall next door, but I haven't done that yet. I have already stayed here a few times now & plan on going again tomorrow. Totally worth the winter rates, but I would avoid it during the summer when the rates triple!

Our room was extremely comfortable, my husband LOVED the tub the next morning and i LOVED the shower and the aveda soaps and shampoos and lotions. the room was not brand new--there were some stains on the carpet and a hole in the shower stall and the furniture looked worn, but it was very clean and the bed was wonderful. our flight got in at 10:45 pm, and we just picked up a courtesy phone at the airport, told the hotel we were there, and a free hotel shuttle was there for us in 15-20 minutes. that was great--no worries about hiring a cab. NOTE TO VISITORS--there are other buses labelled "DIMOND" or "DIAMOND", so make sure you don't jump on a city bus by mistake! front desk staff was very good, friendly and knowledgeable. next morning we went down to breakfast--it was a pretty standard selection, waffles, cereals, muffins, but very good, especially the hard boiled eggs which seemed as though someone had just made them. usually at motels the eggs are cold and rubbery, these were hot and just barely hard-boiled, not tough. at A LOT of anchorage hotels you do not get complimentary breakfast, oh, and the coffee was WONDERFUL!!!! there is a big indoor shopping mall right on the same parking lot. MY RATING= 3 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nicest Hotel in Anchorage

I stay in hotels all over Anchorage while in on business. The Dimond Center Hotel is THE nicest in town. The rooms are perfection. If I ever redesign my own bedroom it will be based on the design here. HUGE floating tub with a window you can open so you can actually watch TV from the tub. Rooms are immaculate, modern, clean, quiet and just feel new. Bedding and mattresses are top of the line and just divine. All rooms have large screen TVs, free wireless internet and small refrigerators. Parking is free and abundant. There is also a walk-in cooler for guest use-- so if you are on a fishing or hunting trip you can use that space if you ask the front desk. Folks from rural Alaska enjoy this hotel because we can shop and stock up while in town and then bob in the tub to relax afterwards or catch a movie at the Dimond Center a short walk across the parking lot. For someone in Alaska on vacation the only (and I mean only) drawback to the hotel is that you are not within walking distance of any good restaurants or in the downtown scene. The hotel is not cheap, but unlike many of the aging hotels downtown you actually get what you pay for here. I have stayed at all the midtown hotels (Courtyard, Residence Inn, Hampton, Homewood, Days Inn, Puffin, Millenium, and I am sure a couple others) and downtown at Captain Cook, Sheraton & Hilton. This is by far the nicest place and our all time favorite.

Very Nice!

The room is laid out wonderfully, the TUB is incredible (close to the bed), and the view from the tub is SO neat. The bed is oh so comfortable and pillows are "ah-h-h". Breakfast was nice and healthy. Price was great should have a 4 star rating, going again!

Coffe kiosks and liquor stores

I chose this hotel because of the advertised soaking tub; I was not disspointed. I stayed the first week of the off-season and the hotel rate was less than half the rate of the in-season. The lobby is perhaps the best feature of the hotel. It is very guest friendly and offers a spectacular view of the Chugach Mountains. The furniture is an intersting shade of green and blue. The staff, when asked, offered great suggestions for dining and activities. The rooms come equipped with a microwave and refrigerator and individual climate control. The bathroom is spacious with the soaking tub and separate shower. The decorations in the room are unique. The hotel is situated between the mall and a Wal-Mart. Anchorage has its share of coffee stores, drive by coffee kiosks and of course, lots of liquor stores. All are within an easy walk of the hotel. Easy access to the Seward Hwy and dowtown Anhorage. I would definitely stay here again.
