A good choice

Nice room - not huge, but well laid out and nicely furnished. Good view from 15th floor. Dining is expensive. My only gripe: the room service menu is on a TV channel and the (slow) scroll rate cannot be controlled by guest. Good parking facilities. A bargain at travel website weekend rate.

This is a Westin!?

Where do I start? It's almost impossible to find the plade - there is NO signage! The "Heavenly" bed is pure hell! Took 20 minutes to check in at 1 a.m and then they didn't have the room we requested & paid for 3 months earlier! The toilet constantly backed up. The room STUNK - literally! We're not usually "complainers," but this place is the pits!

After having lived in the Atlanta area for many years, we were in the city as visitors over the 2006 Christmas holidays. While Westins are normally always nice hotels, I had a specific reason for choosing this one on this particular trip. You see, we had the family dog in tow, and like the "W" hotels in the same Starwood chain, the Westin does accept four legged friends. The big difference is that the "W" doesn't have any pet designated rooms, so there is a non-refundable deposit required that is used to deep-clean after an animal has spent the night. The Westin, however, does have pet designated rooms, so the deposit of $100 is refundable minus $25 for the pet's "stay fee."

SOLD!

So how was our room? With or without the dog, I would have been pleased with this hotel. Despite the great location about a mile from Perimeter Mall and next door to the famous King and Queen "chess buildings" in a major corporate area, we got a great weekend rate. This place caters to a lot of business clients, so you'd expect a big desk, Internet access, etc. We were also happy with the amount of space we had in our room with two double "Heavenly" beds. Everything was tastefully decorated: a tan and white checkerboard wall, heavy drapes, a decent bathroom. The staff were soooo friendly and efficient when we checked in. They sent up a "Heavenly" dog bed for our furry son, and all the bellhops laughed when he didn't want to get on the elevator. Furthermore, the room couldn't have been cleaner. If other animals had ever stayed there, it was impossible to tell. It's also worth noting that there's an outdoor pool here and guests have access to a health club.

Parking? There's a huge parking lot right in front of the Westin, and we weren't charged to park there.

Bottom line? If I were in Atlanta for business or pleasure, I would feel very comfortable at this hotel.

My husband had a meeting there and I accompanied him. Their motto for their rooms is "heavenly" and I couldn't agree more. Most comfortable beds, clean rooms, excellent dining opportunities, and extremely competent staffing. It was a "heavenly" experience.

Westin Atlanta North

This very nice Westin is in a prime business location in Atlanta's Concourse Business Park, and sits on a beautiful pond between the beautiful adjoining Concourse Towers office buildings in a nice setting of gardens and fountains. Fitness buffs should not miss the huge Concourse Athletic club next door, where you can treadmill, stairmaster, and much more while enjoying the view of the lake and fountain.

This Westin has 370 rooms and 6 suites on 20 floors and a lower concourse, and there is a huge attached parking garage (free). Even at 20 stories, the building is dwarfed while looking down from the 30th floor of the Concourse Tower across the lake.

There is a wall of windows across the back of the hotel providing a view of pond and gardens. You can enjoy the view from the Lakeside restaurant downstairs, and you can even sit outside in the garden next to the lake. The Lakeside Restaurant has breakfast and lunch buffets or you can order off the menu. They also have a dinner menu of seafood, steaks, and poultry. If you don't have time to sit and eat, there is a Starbucks. This Westin also has 24 hour room service.

The Westin has contemporary decor throughout the common areas and in the rooms. They have a lobby bar that seems to always have a friendly crowd of customers and employees. It provides a nice welcome to the end of a long day of business...almost as nice as the spotless rooms and lots of premium soaps to relax in a bath with. The rooms are extremely comfortable beds with nice down comforters. They have all the things you would expect in a high-end full-service business hotel, including dual line phones with data ports, safe for valuables, coffee makers with packages of Starbucks coffee, and a minibar.

They have a lot of support services too. They have a bunch of meeting rooms and facilities, secretarial and translator support.

This Westin is in a prime location for business travellers. As such, I suspect that they have great weekend rates when the business travellers are not around. Although this property is 15 minutes from downtown attractions, it is convenient to Buckhead, Parameter Shopping Mall, Lenox Square Mall, and lots of nice restaurants.

The Westin Atlanta North is located at 7 Concourse Parkway in the Concourse Business Park, near Atlanta-Perimeter/Ashford Dunwoody at I-285, well north of the airport and downtown. To get there, take I-85 North of the airport and downtown to 400 North exit. Exit 400 North at Glenridge Connector and turn right. Go to Ashford Dunwoody Road and turn left, and turn left at Hammond Road and look for the Concourse Entrance on your left. You can't miss the huge office towers. Enter the business park and drive to the left parameter of the park until you see the hotel parking garage. I really enjoyed my stay here.
