We've been staying at Evergreen for many many years. It's gotten a bit "rough around the edges" in recent years, but still is an excellent value for the money. The staff is efficient and friendly and the rooms are very clean, spacious, but soon would benefit from a remodel. The breakfast buffet is well worth the cost, but we've noticed they've cut back on some items in recent years. It's hard to get a good cup of coffee, but you can make a decent cup in your room. The location is very good to downtown Penang and shopping centers. There are some tour groups staying at this hotel, but mostly they behave themselves. We will definitely return to the Evergreen.
customer service lacking

One En. , try to challenge me to make a complaint after I approached him discreetly that he should not have been impolite when asking me to move my car from the parking for suite guest as it was raining heavily then. I then told him not to be defensive as I only wants to point out the proper way of addressing customer but he rudely gesture me to make a complaint if I'm not happy with his reply.
Good Value in Penang

Been to this hotel several times. Very reliable. Older, now, but well-maintained. Rooms are excellent. There is no-charge wireless Internet access in the lobby (cable in the rooms). Breakfast is quite good. Taxes & service charges annoying, but unavoidable.
Great trip to Penang

Although the hotel was made very last min - 2 days before my depature as Travel Agent handling my ticket that most of the the hotels in Penang r fully booked up due to long weekend holiday. I managed to find Evergreen booked it at an attractive rate and I am so happy when I get there as the room is overseeing the beach and with that I get to see sun set and sun rise. Very safe hotel with fantastic service.. Taxi can be arrange through the tour desk easily at resonable rate. It was a great trip.
