Beach COPS! And blocked Blackberry

For a beach resort, I felt like I was under house arrest! Do not go in lobby without clothes and shoes...pool has no discernible wait staff...thought I was gonna DIE of dehydration....cafe closes at 2pm!! And beach/pool side bar and cafe closes at 5pm! Crazy stupid hours. Now, room - had to move once because they booked us RIGHT ABOVE the pool filters....now, if they were sold out, I could understand...but they had AMPLE rooms available. We moved...but new room smelled musty and the AC made a HUGE puddle of water all along the patio. The bed side lamp had a broken lamp shade...just generally run down. Also, we left the do not disturb sign on (we did not need new towels ever day...trying to be green here), but the ignored it anyway. WORSE of all...yeah, sure, they had free wifi in the bar downstairs.....you had to pay $10 bucks for room access AND they entire area blocked out Blackberry use....I was DEAD in the water for 4 days of our convention and not until I was out of the resort area 10 minutes down the road did my 100 plus emails come streaming in.....NO EMERGENCY contact via blackberry. How does Hilton expect professionals to stay here and be out of touch!???? Food was only so so - expensive. Front desk was helpful but dang so slow and difficult to deal with...oh, and yeah, on the last day, I was locked out of my room at 8 am when I ran out to put a bag in my car...had to come back into the registration counter to get my electronic key reset so I could get ready for my meeting. Overall, VERY frustrating! Love the area, but will not stay at the Hilton again.

We chose the property based on price and location, but had some concerns about what we would find re: the staff. I have to admit our staff contact was fairly minimal, as we encountered no problems with the room, but the ones we did interact with during the normal course of our stay were very pleasant and helpful, including the desk clerk and especially the bell staff. We were put in a handicap-accessible room with no warning or explanation, but it turned out to be nice and extra roomy so we didn't ask about it. Pools were gorgeous (tanners be warned, though; early morning sun is completely blocked at one pool by one of the towers.) Con: Hate to get charged for overnight parking in a self-park surface lot.

pathetic

The place was beautiful and pristine. The staff was terribly rude and incredibly insensitive to any need we had. Asking for anything at all seemed like an imposition to them, and the front desk attendant was obnoxious. Absolutely, positively encourage everyone to avoid this hotel, even if it means sleeping on the beach.

Don't go when a wedding in town....

I love the hotel, but do not waste your money on a suite. You will not have as good of a view as a standard room. If you are single, you will get a room with bunk beds for the kids you don't have. If the hotel is having a wedding and you pay for a beach cabana, you will be kicked out of it 2-3 hours early and not treated very well by staff. If there is a wedding the hotel will not allow you back off the beach and into the hotel. It is a great resort and the setting is great, but you will have a larger bath in a Hampton INN and the staff is much more friendly then at this resort. You are on your own, but go walk on the beach and you will enjoy the place, just check if a large wedding is planned for on it when you plan to go. Avoid this problem.
