Nice hotel in a not so nice neighborhood

  • 2 out of 5 stars A traveler from Travelocity.com
  • May 2, 2011
Quote: Hotel was charming. Old, but nicely/modernly decorated. I did not feel safe in the neighborhood while walking on foot. If you plan on taking a cab or driving a car in/out of their parking lot, this is a nice hotel.

Quote: Hotel is a little old and room was small but comfortable. Staff was nice. Close to BART station made easy get away to airport in the morning. Neighborhood 1 block north is a bit rough but overall felt safe and comfortable there. Not a room you want... Read the full Metropolis Hotel review

Quote: Like it says in the title; this hotel had a lot of personality! I really loved how each floor had a different nature theme; water, wind, earth and sun ( I believe). The rooms were very cool and modernly decorated; the whole hotel was very charming.... Read the full Metropolis Hotel review

Excellent Value near Union Square

  • 4 out of 5 stars A traveler from Travelocity.com
  • February 7, 2011
Quote: The Hotel Metroplis is a newly decorated, newly renovated hotel just a couple of block from Union Square and the metro system. Since it is new, it is very neat and tidy. It was a great choice for me because I was traveling on a budget, but I wanted... Read the full Metropolis Hotel review

  • October 9, 2009
Quote: My co-workers and I (all women) stayed here during a conference and were very well taken care of by both the front desk staff and the cleaning staff. The building itself is getting a little run down, but the beds are new/amazing and the... Read the full Metropolis Hotel review

Super Value

  • March 5, 2009
Quote: Located just 2 short blocks from the Powell St. BART station, the Metropolis could not be more convenient. The staff is friendly and helpful, and everything about the hotel's interior is clean and fresh. The one downside is the main entrance, which... Read the full Metropolis Hotel review

Good Value, Bring Your Own Security

  • 3 out of 5 stars A traveler from Travelocity.com
  • July 26, 2007
Quote: What's that saying - "you get what you pay for?" This hotel is a great value, but located just inside the Tenderloin district. It's impossible to enter or leave the property without being accosted by an unsavory character, and there was... Read the full Metropolis Hotel review

Don't Stay Here

  • 1 out of 5 stars A traveler from Travelocity.com
  • April 15, 2007
Quote: While this hotel is a ""good value"", you take your personal safety in hand. During my stay, there was a murder four blocks away. There is no doorman the only security I saw was in talking to front desk attendant or reading a book. This... Read the full Metropolis Hotel review
