The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the Buenos Aires business district and cultural center. Furthermore, located on rio de la plata, the Buquebus ferry to Uruguay was in walking distance. Montevideo and Colonia make amazing day trips. The rooms weren't exceptional, but they were ok. The rooms were clean, well scoured and reasonably comfortable. I was disappointed that wireless internet cost $$ per day. Late checkout was not allowed without a heavy fee. This is normal, no hotel is perfect. The restaurant, pool and fitness center were decent. I liked these features. I must comment on the staff..some of the nicest, most hard-working staff I have ever met. They actually seem happy if you're happy. Be careful when walking outdoors. Muggings and pickpockets are very common in the Plaza. That is not the hotel's fault, Buenos Aires is a tough city. Leave your valuables and passport in the safe. Be careful of taxis. Hiring a car and driver to or from the airport do cost. Just ask the hotel, they will refer you to "Quickcar".

Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center

Sheraton has surpassed itself - size wise. This huge monster of a hotel is part of a larger complex including some convention facilities. So if you are a convention organizer, you might consider this as a plus. If not, you have the views of the blue sea or the urban sea. You get to be in walking distance from the shopping Florida Street without being in the diesel fuel saturated streets of the "real" downtown as the other Sheraton is. I have to admit, I did not have the time to explore all of the facilities because I had to explore Buenos Aires first and there was no time left. I am quiet sure that it possess all the usual fare of Sheraton hotel such as numerous restaurants, pool, parking, room service, concierge help desk etc. One thing is for sure - it has great see views. One can see as far as the horizon - in this case this must equal Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay - what more can you ask for - the luxury of seeing a different country from your hotel room?

I've stayed at this hotel before, many years ago, on business trips. But I found it well-maintained, updated, and in good style. The health club is very well-equipped. It is adjacent to outdoor and indoor pool areas, and the spa has great steam room, sauna, and well-equipped dressing room in case your flight departs late or your room isn't ready. We stayed on an executive floor, and the room was recently updated and refurbished in tasteful and elegant furnishings.

The hotel is within walking distance of the great "Avenida Florida" shopping street, and you can easily walk to the Ricoletta District. Although most tourists don't do so, a walk through the train stations and markets across the Plaza St. Martin from the hotel is an interesting way to connect with the general Buenos Aires population -- there you will find a 1930s-style grand restaurant in the train station with incredible architecture.
