Description: When our taxi turned onto Moreno Street in Buenos Aires, exposing a narrow street with nondescript buildings & graffiti-covered walls, my first thought was, "what did I get us into". My second thought was, "we can manage for the few days we're here". But as soon as we walked into the Moreno Hotel, I knew we were someplace special. Greeted immediately & escorted to the lobby in an antique elevator, we couldn't help but notice that this is a lovely, unique, artsy hotel. This Art Deco style hotel was built in 1929 & exudes charm. Everything about the lobby is one-of-a-kind style from the oversized chaise to the red leather furniture to the pointy chandelier to the unique lamps & paintings--this room is amazing. Each floor has beautiful stained glass windows. Our room was huge with high ceilings, a comfy chaise lounge, enormous windows, wood floors, & the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in while traveling. The bathroom was completely modern with a raised sink, large countertop, & an awesome shower with wooden floor & slate walls. Our room was so quiet & private. The breakfast room is very large, & soothing, in tones of brown. Breakfast items were more than adequate. The relaxing rooftop deck features a small pool. And...the Moreno Hotel is just a few blocks away from top tourist sites: Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosada (Pink Palace), Cabilda (White Town Hall), Cathedral Metropolitana, Avenue de Mayo, the 1834 Pharmacy, & the A Subway Line. I have to tell you, I could have stayed a lot longer. This hotel just has a special feel to it. This is one hotel I definitely hope to return to some day. We've been to 49 countries so far (one quarter of the world) & this is TRULY my favorite hotel.
