The Captain Yannis web site has important information that you will want to know before you book your trip. This day tour operator was formerly an independent operator but it is now owned and operated by the same people who operate Palm Island (also known as Elite Island Resorts) and the now-closed Anchorage Yacht Club.

Captain Yannis Boat Cruise

The day started out a bit dreary, and our hopes were low, but it wasn't anything sailing around the Caribbean couldn't cure. Upon arrival to Union Island, we boarded a catamaran (about 25 people) and cruised around the Grenadines. Our first stop was a tiny little island called Mopion, usually reserved for honeymooners! It's a tiny little island with nothing on it but a hut. It was fabulous, and the snorkeling was great. And there were fish of all different colors and sizes. We continued our trip by sailing on to the Tobago Cays (pronouced Keys) and a tiny island called Petit Bateau. Slowly the clouds parted and the islands came alive with the sun! The sand was white, the sea was sparkling, and the schools of fish swam merrily. The cruise includes a full breakfast and lunch, as well as all-you-can-drink beer and rum punch (and nonalcoholic drinks too). The trip ended with a stop off at Palm Island before returning to Union Island.

This trip was a great way to discover some of the less-visited islands and really see some of the true Caribbean and all that it has to offer outside of showy hotels and built-up beaches. We even passed the island that was part of the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean!" For anyone wanting a trip to islands that don't have KFC or Burger Kings, and that you won't see in commercials, take a trip to the marvelous Tobago Cays.
