Description: Introduction
This hotel is located close to the city of London in a vastly improved area of Hackney. The hotel is owned by entrepreneurs Simon Wright and John Pallagi. One time, during 2009 I watched a particular episode of ‘The Apprentice’ and some of the lucky business task winners were sent here to have a night at this exact hotel. I then later checked the website to book one night stay at this hotel and I was impressed throughout my visit from start to finish. Booking a room here made me special as to say I was surrounded by successful business people and people wanting to enjoy a stylish and sophisticated night stay at this excellent hotel.
Location
The hotel is located in the east end of London, which is an area full of yuppies, wealthy businessmen, and city workers. The place itself is quite straightforward to commute to and from Central London. Around the area are high rise flats and some impressive buildings. There are good pub and dining places to eat and drink around this area.
How to Get there
This is a fairly straightforward London Underground train journey ride as people can travel to Moorgate on the Metropolitan line train system and change to the Northern Line system to Old Street. The journey takes around 5-8 minutes from Moorgate and the hotel is located about 100 metres away from the train station on the Great Eastern Road. The hotel is opposite a Cost Cutter supermarket convenience store. To the left of the Hoxton Hotel is an office building called Nena house, and to the right is a company that design and manufacture office furniture for big companies.
First Impressions
Upon arrival, I noticed the entrance seemed very inviting as people were sitting down enjoying a drink and reading a newspaper on some really well designed and modern tables and chairs. The ambience, lighting and the decorations in the place was very professional and looked quite fancy. I heard light music playing as well as some quiet conversation from other guests.
Room Details
Entry to the room is made through a card key system and upon arrival the room I saw a bathroom area to the right of entrance and straight down the room was the bed area. The room was equipped with kettle with free sachets of tea, coffee and milk. There was also a mini bar area which had different items such as wine, fruit juices and other small snacks. I liked in particular the bed itself as the room had spot lights around the back board frame of the bed. Also the room had a television with some cable television channels and telephone if room service was required. The bedroom carpet was a white colour. The room had a window which at least brought in some air into the room, though outside of the window was the flu central heating system for the premises which I was not impressed about. Also the view I had from my room was nothing particularly special other than being able to see diners sitting at the Grille bar. The bed quality was very comfortable with nice soft sheets and duvet covers. The bed pillows were a little unconventional as the pillows given resembled a sofa style pillow.
Dining Options
The restaurants grille and bar area where well presented, suave and sophisticated places. The music played was a jazz and had a modern contemporary feel to the place. The restaurant area was an excellent place to dine; there were alternative places to dine in and around Hackney. I chose a plate of fish and chips which was served by a very beautiful waitress who delivered my cheap £7 fish and chips to my table with a smile and promptly within ten minutes. The décor of the place as a whole as well as the vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant was undeniably high standard. I received a prompt check back again with professionalism and a smile and was really pleased with the quality of the dining experience here at the hotel. In the morning I was given an excellent Pret A Manger breakfast which saw me wake up with a smile and start the day bright and fresh all of course after I had an excellent shower at the bedroom.
Payment and Booking Process
I paid £135 for a 1 night stay at this particular hotel in May and I was really quite surprised that the overall experience was excellent. I also was booking the hotel knowing that on occasions the companies’ website do occasionally have £1 special offers and reduced rates. The payment policy is to take money in advance and also have a no refund policy on cancellations though people can change the date of arrival which incurs a £15 charge. The booking process I made on the telephone and was happy that the telephone call handler was cheerful and positive throughout the booking process.
Value for Money
Having stayed at the Travelodge and Holiday Inn hotels, I found that this hotel is perhaps not for those people wanting to stay in a top quality hotel on a budget. The Hoxton hotel does to its credit have more vibrancy, better ambience and more added extra facilities than most other hotel chains. In terms of a pleasant stay I do indeed value the hotel in terms of its quality and service, though I suppose that it definitely is not the cheapest hotel in terms of price.
Opinion
I was particularly impressed from the vibrancy and the customer service attitude and behaviour towards clients at all times during my visit. More so I was even more pleased that the reception staff gave me free bottles of water as and when required. The quality of this place I have yet to find better. I was so pleased with the ease of booking, to the dining and the night’s rest I had at this hotel that I will want to come here again
